Dean's fundraising slowing down
and by "slowing down", I mean on the edge of breaking his own record last quarter! ;-)

4. Sick ploy?
What is more sick to me is that someone would click on a a thread out of sheer shadenfreude. Check yourself!

18. haha That was a weekend outfit
Not good for weekdays as we keep such political stuff out of the Stock Watch Thread. We only slam Team Bush there. No of us there is against any of the Dem candidates so it wouldn't have been applicable anyhow. ;-) I found it interesting those who took offense at it. Folks who denied being against anyone, just for someone else. One wonder why they took offense in the first place then, since it supposedly didn't apply to them. Got some fun PMs over, ranging from shrill to near hysterics. Funny stuff.

I was asked to make it smaller a one point though, which I did. Can't say I don't comply when asked nicely. haha

9. Too funny
I guess we have different opinions on what "sick ploy" means. If this thread IS a sick ploy, then the only thing "sick" about it is that people who relish in any form of negativity towards the Dean campaign get dissapointed to find out that hundreds of thousands of Americans are STILL donating to the campaign at record-breaking pace.

It's sick to not want a Democrat to succeed I guess.

$14,846,895.88

139,955 contributors

average donation: $106.00

12. I put my congratulations to the Dean campaign on the article in LBN,
so there. I was looking for information. Since Dean draws mostly from small contributors, I was wondering if some were being tapped out. This would have serious implications for the Democratic party in the GE, if even the passionate Dean people could not keep up the flow of $$. Take it for what it is worth.

21. Take this for what it's worth...
97% of all those who have contributed to the Dean campaign have not reached the $2000 limit.

There is a lot more to come.

7. Give another $2,000. It's legal.
I don't know if $2,000 is you personal limit, or if you're under the impression that's the legal limit. $2,000 is the limit per election. The primary and general are two different elections according to the FEC. You can give another $2,000 and simply earmark it for the general election. Donors do it all the time. The campaign will know how to handle it.

14. It was my personal limit but it's also the legal per election
I didn't think that we could donate again until after Jan. 1 and after the Dem convention for the general election.

19. Contribution limits, according to the FEC handbook
http://www.fec.gov/pdf/citizen_guide_pub.pdf

Page 5:
An individual may give a maximum of:
• $2,000 per election to a Federal candidate or the candidate’s campaign committee. Notice that the limit applies separately to each election. Primaries, runoffs and general elections are considered separate elections.

Page 6:

In the case of a Presidential candidate running in various State primaries, you may contribute up to $2,000 for the entire primary campaign period—not $2,000 for each State primary in which the candidate runs.

---snip

You may also contribute up to $2,000 to the general election campaign of any Presidential candidate who is not a Federally funded Democratic or Republican nominee.
