Did Dean peak too soon?
Or has Dean not even come within visual range of the summit?

We broke our 1.5 mil goal, and we'll break 15 mil for the quarter. These are all records.

For months people have been speculating about whether or not Dean peaked too soon. I've always argued that he hasn't even peaked yet. We should have a pool for how long it will take after the 4th quarter before the meme comes around again.

1. With 52,000 new contributors this quarter
no, I don't think Dean has peaked too soon, considering most people haven't even heard of him yet.

2. I heard it yesterday on
*shudder* Fox News. (My girlfriend likes to torture herself that way). The bimbo anchorwoman asked some guy she was talking to if he though, maybe, Dean had peaked. She asked it as if it was an incredibly interesting and original thought. And she was really hopeful that he'd say yes. She asked this right after she asked whether or not Clark's commercial with Clinton in it should be considered an endorsement of Clark by Clinton. What a moran.

3. Clark's commercial.
He had footage of himself with Clinton so he used it. Can't blame him for that, anybody would and he would be nuts not to, but that's all it is. If it "fools" some people into thinking Clinton supports Clark, well, that's advertising. Of course if Dean did it it would be a crime, but that's different.

4. I agree completely.
How the idea that it means that Clinton endorses Clark ever even came up is beyond me.

9. Err, I don't think its supposed to be an attack.
How is a clinton endorsement supposed to be a bad thing? And I believe that Dean has, and will continue to effectively answer the attacks you list. Plus, he's the only one who will have the money to do it.

12. Big taxer?
What is it gonna take to pay off George's big fat DEBT? Play money?

Or a reduction in everything Americans have taken for granted for decades?

Never let it stand that Bush reduced taxes. Only for people richer than God. The rest of us are paying higher oil prices. Higher gas prices. Higher food prices. Higher real estate taxes. Higher sales taxes. Higher bus, train, and subway fares. Higher park admission fees. Higher licensing fees. Higher fees for every damn thing. Reduced taxes, my ass.

He gave the rich a break and he's making the rest of us pay for it, the bastard.

15. YES.
www.bushtax.com

We need to spread the word. Everywhere.

My mom is socially liberal and hates taxes, so she's usually a bi-partisan kind of voter. Then I told her about the Bush Tax. It's another great thing that the Dean campaign has done.

What does a candidate do with leftover money? Does it go to the Party?

13. Not yet....but maybe in a month or so?
After the New Hampshire primary. Then Edwards will take S. Caroline, and that will start the slow slide for Dean.

14. Is Edwards even in the top two there anymore?
I thought it was Dean then Clark in the last couple polls. And how is Edwards supposed to jump up after Dean has all the positive momentum from DC/IA/NH?

About 12 months too early. Guy can't stop putting his foot in his mouth and the media has just started to pay attention to this fact.

19. Maintaining the frontrunner position is rarely easy...
... no matter what race it is. Everyone always guns for the leader of the pack.

The dynamic of the race has changed; Dean was once a name in a crowd, an underdog, now he's the top man with everything to lose (in the primary, anyway). He certainly has the money, the popular support, and the support of politicians to maintain it. A lot can change in a month, though. So, I don't really know.
