Hillary Clinton: “we're going to get rid of No Child Left Behind”
One of the reasons I am posting this because of two thread (that I know of) posted about NCLB today.
One issue that emerged in these threads is that official websites for both candidates need to be updated. I do not any current information for Obama’s position of NCLB other than his website.
Clinton’s website, as does Obama’s, have their policy statements on education, health care ect ect, ect,…
Sen. Clinton said early in this campaign that she would go on a listening tour during the primaries. In relation to NCLB she has listened to parents, teachers, district administers, ECT,
in her smaller group settings with voters (much better venue that large rallies).
Her earlier position on the NCLB problem has evolved from ‘fixing’ it to getting rid of it and starting over. These listening sessions have been helpful to her in arriving at her decision.
It is not a simple flip-flip mantra that I keep seeing on two other threads. Responsible people make different decisions based on new information/facts.
Below are 3 instances of Sen. Clinton’s new position from the trail.
If people have information about Obama’s position something he said on the trail that is not on his website, please post.

I'm not really sure how this went unnoticed for four weeks.
The January 16 Delegate Assembly of New York City's United Federation of Teachers was interrupted by a phone call from Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to UFT President Randi Weingarten. Placed on speaker for all the delegates to hear, Sen. Clinton thanked Weingarten for her help in securing her victory in the New Hampshire primary.
According to a January 31 story by UFT staff writer Michael Hirsch:
"'Education and children are the causes of my life,' she said and promised that
'we're going to get rid of No Child Left Behind,' a promise that brought
delegates to their feet roaring approval."……

…….Voices Across American Town Hall Meeting tonight, February 4, 2008, the night before the Super Tuesday primaries…….
1. What will you do to get rid of No Child Left Behind? "We need to start over. Universal Pre-K; smaller class size; incentives for teachers to teach in difficult areas; after-school programs and summer programs; federally-funded qualified teachers put in schools; for poorer districts, feds should help with facilities. Fed only spends 10% of its monies on education. I am also for more funding for special education. I will listen to the ones in the classroom; focus on individual child.

…..Though the questions covered a wide array of topics, from global overpopulation; Native American rights and health care, the war in Iraq; education and the economy were key policy initiatives Clinton came back to.
…..
Clinton also touted that her mother would end the war in Iraq by bringing the troops home, stabilizing the country as troops are withdrawn and by having a strong diplomatic presence in the Middle East that will help with the rebuilding of Iraq as well as improve relations with other Middle Eastern states. ……She also said that a part of ending the war in Iraq is improving care for veterans when they return home, including making sure they are compensated and receive the bonuses promised to them when they signed on to serve.
…….
Other topics Clinton hit were governmental universal health care, greening all federal buildings and investing in renewable energy sources to combat global warming, improving national security by keeping the Patriot Act and ending Bush's No Child Left Behind plan for education.***
