Zogby poll: Obama far more electable
http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1449

Barack Obama has gained strength in prospective general election match-ups against Republicans John McCain and Mike Huckabee, while Hillary Clinton does not fare as well, a new nationwide Zogby Interactive poll shows.

The online survey shows that Obama would defeat both McCain and Huckabee, while Clinton would lose to McCain and only defeat Huckabee by a small margin.

Clinton struggles among political independents, trailing McCain by a wide margin and Huckabee by a slim margin in that demographic, the survey shows. Against both men, she wins less than 80% of her own party. However, she does better among Democrats than either McCain or Huckabee does among Republicans. Huckabee wins just 70% support in a match-up against Clinton, while McCain wins 72% of the GOP support against her.

Obama has much stronger Democratic Party support, winning 87% backing of the Democrats when pitted against Huckabee, and 84% of the Democratic support against McCain. Among independents, Obama leads McCain by a 46% to 33% edge and Huckabee by a 48% to 31% advantage.

4. As an Obama supporter I call bullshit...Why would we listen to Zogby...
about anything? As much as I hope this is true, Zogby's predictions seem far less on target than my own, and I don't even have to spend money to get make mine. So, um, gee, I think Barack is more electable too! :)

5. Wasn't Zogby the one who predicted California for Obama?
And New Hampshire?

Hasn't he mis-called several by large differences?

8. Well
this poll agrees with common sense and all the other data. Even Obama supporters were calling BS about the Zogby California poll b/c it was so different from all the other ones.

10. To be fair, every major polling company had NH for Obama.
Zogby did predict Obama in California, but he's been right in pretty much every other state so far.

People forget Survey USA was often way off prior to California, Zogby, up until that point, had been more on than off.

25. But California, without the early votes (1,000,000) and if one added the 100,000
uncounted independent votes probably would have won. In otherwords, there just wasn't enough time. But I think that Zogby actually read it right, which is why Obama, although had been lagging by a giant percentage, didn't do badly in delegate allocation in that one!

12. It's not just Zogby..check out pollingreport.com!
http://www.pollingreport.com/wh08gen.htm

Every poll posted shows Obama doing better than Clinton vs McCain.

Several show Hillary losing to McCain.

A Hillary candidacy is irrelevant if she loses. NONE of her platform gets enacted is she loses.

It is beginning to look like a vote for Hillary is a vote for McCain.

22. Zogby is considered one of the better pollsters
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 10:53 PM by Stuckinthebush
Why is it humourous to discuss his results?

Is it because of the bad results in California? If you take his track record from 1992 on up it is decent. I wound't disregard all of his work based on the CA result.

19. I've put Zogby on IGNORE since that California fiasco altered the expectations.
He missed that by 25 points, so he's officially on my shit list.

How can you trust anything he says when he misses it that badly?

I don't doubt that the things in the OP stated are probably correct, but someone other than Zogby will have to report it.
