I really don't understand why it is a problem. If someone hates Hillary enough to vote in a Democratic Primary just to vote AGAINST her... they sure as hell aren't voting for her in the General Election. If they cast a vote for Obama once, they might do so again, especially after they see Obama and McCain side by side on a debate stage.

This just confirms what I've been saying all along: Hillary is despised throughout America, and there is no way in hell she could ever be elected. If she weren't so damn egotistical, she would see that herself, and would never have run for President.

Further, the Clinton years are not regarded as fondly by average Democrats as the media seem to imagine. The corporation-loving, free-trade policies of that time led to nothing but lost jobs and a lower standard of living for working class people. Sure, if you happened to be a yuppie techie, they were boom times, at least until the bubble burst. But for most of us, they were disastrous. We defended Bill against the absurd assaults from the right, and we were grateful to have a Democrat in office at all. But at the end of the day, the Clintons were not on our side then, and they won't be if they get into office again.

Bill was shielded from the impact of his policies by his personal charm, and resentment of the right's attacks on him. Hillary has no such shield, and all the anger about the legacy of those years is falling on her.

He has been a registered Republican for a while, but has been fed up with Bush's crap and all the garbage coming from the GOP for a long time.

He's also not a Clinton lover.

But he got out there, registered as a Democrat on caucus day and voted for Obama.

That's what I like about Obama - he can bring in the Independents and moderate Republicans. And I haven't seen him sell out us progressives like Lieberman.

I think there is a real groundswell of folks that just want all the craziness to stop. If someone like Obama was a republican, you'd probably see similar results. ...Tired of Bush-Clinton-Bush, and (while I will vote for Hillary if she is the nom) I am an Obama supporter hoping for some substantive change and real progress.

Had Bill Clinton vetoed NAFTA, the Salvage Logging rider and the '96 Telecommunications Act, and thoroughly aired-out the Iran Contra scandal, and had Hillary sponsored and pushed-through some real progressive legislation during her time in the Senate (as well as substantively opposing * - and I mean leading filibusters), I would look much more favorably on another Clinton candidacy. But things being as they are, I am a lukewarm supporter at best. If she triangulates much more, I may get nauseous.
