Superdelegates play key role; Hillary Rodham Clinton leads...
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 12:48 PM by Tellurian
...Safe to say at this point: "Hillary is the UNDERDOG"!

WASHINGTON — Hillary Rodham Clinton retains her lead among Democratic Party insiders even as Barack Obama builds up his delegate margin with primary and caucus victories, according to an Associated Press survey.

Of the 796 lawmakers, governors and party officials who are Democratic superdelegates, Clinton had 243 and Obama had 156. That edge was responsible for Clinton’s overall advantage in the pursuit of delegates to secure the party’s nomination for preside

1. the thing about super delegates is that they are not pledged they can change their minds
and they are many of them elected officials who will be looking down the road at who has the momentum and who is winning the most primaries (we don't know yet who will win the most), and who may do the best against McCain. It is doubtful that if one candidate is losing far more than winning that super delegates will prop up that candidate.

2. Obama just overtook the superdelegates.
Furthermore, you can expect more superdelegates to vote for Obama as he continues to pull away from Clinton.

4. To clarify: He is ahead in the total count including superdelegates
He is still behind in the count of superdelegates alone.

5. Does this sentence make sense to you...cbs is BS'ing..the public
"In the delegate chase, Obama has pulled ahead of Clinton, even when the support of uncommitted super delegates is figured in."

It's pure hype and don't you believe it!

6. Makes sense to me.
They're saying that superdelegates my switch their votes, as compared to delegates, which really are committed.

Have you solid reason to object to the piece, or are you just in denial?

9. haha...I call that a hypothetical...
which is fine for some. The article I posted seems a little more concrete. After all, for the time being, these super delegates can switch over to another candidate 5 min before they announce the nominee. So, I guess it's all symantics.

8. OK, you deserve an explanation...
When a Campaign on a National Scale, such as Hillarys is restructuring itself it's because of staffing problems and worse, money shortfalls. For any one single glitch mentioned above would be the Kiss of Death to a campaign. (read: Guilianni..that is what happened to him) In short, her campaign is only running on 2 or 3 cylinders at this point in time.. I contrast it with her competitor Obama, who has millions of foot soldiers working for him from MOVEON.Org helping them out in the Caucus states. (Albeit, moveon.org is doing so illegally. As a non-profit, the IRS doesn not allow the np to get involved with or support a single candidate in an election until after the nominee is chosen..)

Plus the fact Kennedy and Kerry have made their contacts and donor lists available to Obama.. This is a huge advantage over Hillary... comprende?

She will rise above it.. Yes, she will. Hillary is Presidential Timber in the most serious sense of the word and is being tested as to her tenacity and perseverance in the face of adversity..She WILL Rise... and prevail in the end.
