I both think Obama is the best candidate AND his movement resembles a cult of personality
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 12:58 AM by Phil McCavity
Many Obama haters would probably cling to this term in order to hurt his enemy, but I genuinely believe that the Press Corps has treated Obama in such a way that his great persona has been transformed almost into a deity.

With this said, my belief doesn't interfere with my opinion that because of his constant opposition to the Iraq war and other progressive stances, Obama is our best choice.

My point is that this has nothing to do with how good or bad Obama is for the nation.

However, like I said, I agree that with those who compare the treatment Obama has received to a "cult of personality".

3. Cult
If it is a cult of personality, it is an awfully recent one. Up until a couple of months ago, the press gave him very little air time. I'm not sure I understand why the term is considered pejorative anyway. All candidacies are about personality at least as much as issues. That's human nature.

4. Geez, all I've heard of for the past year was Obama and Hillary.
The media ignored Biden, who I was for, Edwards, who I could have been for and just about everyone else running on both sides. It was Obama and Hillary 24/7. Well, that might be a slight exaggeration, but I think the media "half made" Obama. I only say half because I do believe he has brought in millions on his own, but he has most definitely benefited from nothing but positive media attention. Hillary has received terrible media attention and she isd still very much in the race.

And please don't call me a Hillbot or whatever the term is. I was against Hillary getting into the race long before she got in. Once the media knocked everyone else out, I started leaning toward her, but won't be crushed if it's Obama time.
