AP: "Close Presidential Race Draws Interest"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47818-2004Mar10.html

The Associated Press
Wednesday, March 10, 2004; 7:36 PM

WASHINGTON - Public interest in the closely matched contest between President Bush and presumptive Democratic nominee John Kerry is higher now than it was just before the last two elections, according to a poll released Wednesday.

The campaign occurs as the loss of jobs has become an increasingly important issue and the nation remains engaged in the fight against terrorism in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. More than six in 10 respondents - 63 percent - said their interest in the campaign is very high.

Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg and Republican pollster Bill McInturff conducted the poll for National Public Radio.

<>The NPR poll of 922 registered voters was conducted Feb. 26-March 1 and the NBC-Journal poll of 1,018 adults was taken March 6-8. Both have margins of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

3. It Is Indeed Excellent News, Sir
People would not be paying this much attention this early if they did not either badly want the wretch out of office, or badly fear he will be put out of office. Nor is there any reason to suspect those who who now want the reptile gone will change their minds in the coming months; they have had tears to decide on it, after all....

2. High turnout sinks Republicans
It's that simple. If everyone in this country actually voted all the time the Repubs would be lucky to make off with 40% of the vote.
