Clinton replaces campaign manager, makes private visit to North Carolina to seek Edwards endorsement
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080210/ap_on_el_pr/clinton_campaign_manager

WASHINGTON - Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton replaced campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle with longtime aide Maggie Williams on Sunday, engineering a shake-up in a presidential campaign struggling to overcome rival Sen. Barack Obama's financial and political strengths.

The surprise announcement came hours after Obama's sweep of three contests Saturday and shortly before the Illinois senator won caucuses in Maine on Sunday. Determined to stem the tide, Clinton turned to a longtime confidante to manage her operations while the campaign acknowledged that she made a private visit to North Carolina this week to seek the endorsement of former rival John Edwards.

1. At this point i don't think endorsements matter Senator Kennedy is the biggest
of them all and they didn't help Obama in Massachusetts.

6. I think Kennedy's did help, you don't understand the difference between "help" and "help win"
Kennedy certainly legitimated Obama's candidacy for some voters and the thing about endorsements that get a lot of media coverage is that it's like a commercial for the endorsee because a big name is saying nice things about their candidate.

Together that swings things and while that alone couldn't overcome the whole deficit in Massachusettes, it made it closer (helping in delegates) and the positive coverage may have tipped some races in other states to Obama's side.

Your take on endorsements is really simplistic.

3. At this point I question whether or not
an endorsement from an Edwards will make any kind of a difference. One would think if he wanted to MAKE an endorsement that carried any weight iot would have been before South Carolina-who knows maybe he feels he can still make a difference in North Cackalacky

8. But Obama didn't have to replace his campaign manager.
And Obama swept every primary and caucus held this weekend. Look for him to sweep the Potomac primaries as well on Tuesday.

That's a recipe for desperation in the Clinton camp.
