Will the media turn this off the cuff comment into the "Dean Scream"?
Apparently MSNBC caught Kerry as he was taking off his mic and he was a bit upset at the Bush Administration and was caught saying "They're the biggest bunch of liars I've ever seen." or something to that effect. It's been all over MSNBC today and they're trying to make him seem UnPresidential because of it and even played up Bush Administration responses to it where they claimed Kerry only has anger to offer Americans....

I know it's ridiculous, but how out of hand can this angle get?

Oh, I guess if Bush is your measure of "presidential" then anybody who told the truth WOULD be "unpresidential."

I hope he keeps saying it! Loud!

They made a huge deal about Kerry saying he didn't think Bush would "fuck it up" about Iraq in Rolling Stone and Wesley Clark's swearing comment on C-SPAN but we've never heard a peep about the infamous off the record swearing from Bush.

called Crossfire, did a story on that right after Clark made his "beat the shit out of them". And it was pretty clear that Bush is no saint when it comes to cussin. But you are right that it is hardly ever reported.

15. Kerry has worked with mics for 35 years.
I don't believe for a minute that his aside was accidental; but if it was,it was fortunate, IMHO.

Remember the West Wing episode, in which President Bartlett "accidentally" leaves his mic on and calls the W character stupid (or some kind of slur against the intelligence of the James Brolin character)?

I remember the was an infamous one with TIME magazine at the oval office not that long back and before that didn't he threaten a reporter saying something to the extent of, "You fucking prick, we'll remember this."

There used to be a really cool Bush Quotes page that had that quote and I printed them cut them all out and hung them all over the door to my bedroom. :)

It will show continued malaise.

I believe that if this comment is still running by Fri they will focus on the economic report.

The media may be shills for the Repukes, but they're business people first. They need the economy humming to sell their ads.

I feel the same about Kerry's! As Clark advised you:

P.S. Tjis was nothing like the scream which, while vastly overplayed by the media whores, embarassed many deanies here - I remember.
These comments should make everyone proud!

Millions upon millions among the people feel in their hearts the criminals of the '00 Coup are a bunch of lying crooks, and it does them good to hear it said by someone of stature....

"Desperate men do desperate things, and stupid men do stupid things. We are in for a desperately stupid summer."

28. Saw it on the evening news! Priceless!
I understand the consternation. Years and years of taking everything our side says out of context and hitting us over the head with it has taken its toll on us and it seemed like that dynamic was alive and well in the primary, at least if you supported either Dean or Clark. But..Kerry is making it work for him. I think he's a fucking genius! Seems like every day now he makes some "gaffe" that A. communicates his message about Bush, and B. Gets free coverage. The primaries are all but over. They haven't been newsworthy since Super Tuesday. And what conclusion would you have to come to hearing those off the cuff remarks? I come to the conclusion that Kerry is totally sincere in every more official accusation he levels at the Bush administration. Actually, I think he is sincere, but this would confirm it.

35. Correct
This wasnt an uncontrolled emotional outburst, just a cold statement of Kerry's belief and the beleif he found in the Democratic electorate in Florida in particular regardin the results of the 2000 eletion. Well planned and no more of an error than Bush making the statement that Kerry has flip flopped on his positions.

Someone help catch all these flying monkeys! :wow:

I think this was intentional. Just think how much airtime the comment has gotten since it seemed to be a little "gaffe", as opposed to how much it would have gotten if Kerry had just said this in a stump speech.

I think it shows a certain political craftiness on the part of Kerry, and I like it.

Edited to say: Especially the way it was shown on the news last night, with Kerry's comment played immediately after Bush's comments. It made a certain impression. :)

People know BushCo are a bunch of liars. This is a great way of getting out the message without having to be contrite in some polite interview with the Russerts of the World.

It reminds me of when Kerry said that Chimpy f*cked up the war. A lot of people who thought Kerry was too gentlemanly quickly admired him for telling it like it is.

The usual suspects will try to drive this into some big deal, but the more they mention it, the more the message gets out. Bite the hook, neoconpoops.

Cool.
