Says Msnbc has apologized for D. Schuster's "pimping out" of Chelsea

I have not read any followup since this happened yeaterday and this all i could find.

08.02.2008
Clintons v. MSNBC

Interesting moment from the latest Clinton campaign conference call. Washington Post media reporter Howie Kurtz asked Howard Wolfson about a comment by MSNBC's David Shuster that the Clinton campaign had "pimped out" Chelsea on the campaign trail.

Wolfson went on a tear, saying the comment was "beneath contempt." Kurtz said MSNBC had apolgized, but Wolfson said he was unaware of any apology delivered personally to Chelsea. Then, in what I take as an implicit reference to Chris Matthews's recent apology for cracks he'd made about Hillary, Wolfson referred to "a pattern here at this particular network." He also added rhetorically: "Is this part of a pattern? Is there something that folks are encouraged to do or not do?"

Wolfson said Hillary might be done with MSNBC debates. "I at this point can't envision a scenario where we would continue to engage in debates on that network," he said.

This is a long-running tension. Earlier this month a Clintonite told me he thought it an open question whether Fox is fairer than MSNBC to Hillary.

P.S. Wolfson remains undaunted on seating the Florida and Michigan delegations. "Florida and Michigan have voted and we think that those votes and those preferences matter."

about Clinton. I remember fondly the days when DU supported democrats who were standing up to the media who was so obviously unfair in their coverage.

Apologies on television for outrageous comments are warranted.

However, if we really want to get down to it, Fox commentators make outrageous comments on a regular basis - almost none of which ever lead to apologies - on air or off. So yeah, rightly knock MSNBC but I don't mean that Fox is now above criticism.

24. Shuster already apologized
On the air, this morning, on Morning Joe. He spent about five minutes doing so, which doesn't seem like much, until you actually watch someone apologize for five minutes.

Welcome back to those joyful 90's, a time of bitter divisiveness and partisan war all brought to you by the MSM, who feeds off the blood of the average Americans who are the true victims.

So you are surrendering to the right-wing hate machine that made the 90's divisive?

Will you surrender when that same hate machine turns on Obama, as they will if he wins the nomination?

25. Disgusting remark!!!
MSNBC has become a cesspool, I can barely stand to watch it for 5 minutes before I change the channel.

Shuster's comment was disgusting, whether addressed at Chelsea or any other candidate's daughter.

Why is it that some in the media think that they can get away with saying any misogynist remark against Hillary and now even her daughter? Don't these pigs realize that the more they bash her, the more women end up supporting her to counteract the hate?

After the IA caucus she was pilloried by the media and it ended up outraging plenty of women who weren't even her supporters. At work 3 coworkers who are Republican told me separately that they wished she won in NH and congratulated me the following day when she actually DID pull a win in that primary. These 3 women wouldn't vote for a Democrat, but were nonetheless furious at the sexist comments directed at Hillary. Misogyny transcends party affiliation and it debases ALL women. When are some men going to get that through their heads????
