You folks need a dose of reality.
This is the primary season and all the happy talk is about what looks goods coming from Dem voters.
There will be a lot to overcome during the GE including the numbers of bigots who will be registering and coming out in droves should Obama get the nomination. They might sit on their hands if the nomination is Hillary but they won't if it is Obama. G BET ON it. e

I think this cuts both ways but that it shouldn't be factor in who gets nominated.

15. The bigots won't vote for either one
That's the difference. The people who reject Hillary are rejecting her busy-body politics that don't even listen to the views of those who disagree with her.

13. It's getting very old to read that stuff
particularly now when Obama has demonstrated that he can win white voters in very red places. Sure, they're dems but quite a few are clearly conservative dems.

9. You really believe that? I can make the argument that Republicans will come out in droves
to stop Bill Clinton from getting in the White House Again. And that MEN aren't going to let a woman run this country. Its nice when Women can take over a primary, but in a General Election, Men aren't going to vote for a woman

You see how easy it is to generalize?

12. If you think the knuckle dragging right
is going to give Hillary Rodham Clinton a pass, I want to meet your connection, babe.

R.M. Scaife by himself will sink a million or two into the smear Hillary campaign, and he has been prepping it since ~1992.

Of course this is going to be a wedge campaign by the Rethuglicans.
What else they got?

911? Better against the terror they create?
The economy? The environment? Respecting the troop?

They are flat out busted as a party. They are going down to defeat if there is an election. Now, how the totals get counted, that is another story.

But if you are thinking Hillary gets some kind of pass; that racists are somehow not also sexist-- then you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

17. there are plenty who will come out to vote against either HRC or Obama
Don't fool yourself. I'm an Obama supporter, but will vigorously support HRC if she gets the nomination. Unfortunately, if you don't think that there are a lot of people who will be motivated to vote just to cast a ballot against HRC because she's a woman or because she's a clinton, and that there are also a lot people who will be motivated to come out and vote for his opponent because he's got dark skin and a 'funny' name.

18. I think exactly the opposite.
There are a whole lot more people who dislike Hillary on the repug/independent side, than there are bigots. Every repub I've talked to says they don't like their candidates, but they HATE Hillary, and have said they kind of liked Obama.

Hillary will get out the repug vote like no one else. Yes, there are bigots, I spoke to one over the weekend - he doesn't vote. He didn't want a black OR a woman. I would guess bigots wouldn't vote dem, anyway, but there are a LOT of independents and even repubs who WILL vote for Obama. "Bigots" and racists normally wouldn't vote dem anyway, and probably think a woman would be just as bad.

It's not "happy talk", it's fact. Hillary has far too many negatives. Obama has tremendous crossover appeal. We will need that in the GE. The numbers and the polls also disagree with you.

20. These people have been salivating over a Hillary nomination since the Clintons left the White House
Mush Limpdick has got them so convinced that Hillary is an ultra-liberal hippy peacenik (wrong on all three counts) that they would be holding nightly fundraiser/crossburnings to battle the evil "Hitlery Klintoon" agenda.

22. You are correct!
In our party race, drug use and sexuality are off the table or else you should expect about 20-30 adjectives that label you to their needs.

The Obama sheep are meandering through their nice field in their make believe world thinking that all this will stay off limits and out of bounds. We don't care about drug use chain smoking etc, it isn't an issue now. Where you been man, it's 2008......

When your enemies are praising you it is not because they truly like you or are afraid of you, they are setting you up. Hasn't anyone been watching politics over the last 30 years?

I have been watching politics for a long time and everyone has been watching the last 7 years (and will compare it to the previous 8 before that).

30. I read Free Republic a lot (a lot more than is recommended)
There are plenty of bigots there. I found people who bristle at the suggestion that "racism is wrong." No kidding.

If Obama galvanizes the bigot vote, it will be because he is some kind of crypto-Muslim, but that is a low-level effect. Almost every Freeper who has pledged to stay home or write-in on election day has amended that pledge with, "unless Hitlery is the Dem nominee, then I'm voting against her."

Not a single Freeper has express such absolute disdain for Obama.

I believe there are plenty of bigots in the U.S., but they haven't been visibly mobilizing within anything resembling the mainstream.
