"I have never heard any other speaker who was so able to penetrate into the soul of the individual"
"You cannot imagine how silent it becomes as soon as this man speaks; it is as if all of the thousand listeners are no longer able to breathe...

"God grant that, as a trailbreaker to better times, he will be able to gather many more...comrades...after all, every class is represented. Workers and...civil servants, officers and...troops, students and old pensioners--all sit together, and all are in agreement with the great concept embodied in (this) person...Sometimes it seems to me as if (he) used a magic charm in order to win the unconditional confidence of old and young alike. When one considers, however, that the common man, suffering from t he spiritual malaise that goes hand in hand with economic misery, seeks stability and finds it in the one man who will not disappoint him, then one understands the jubilation that is evoked by his very appearance."***

***Written by a German woman in 1923, after hearing Adolf Hitler speak at a rally

10. Oh please, not the JFK mythology again
RFK, MLK, courageous. JFK - a media creation like Obama. JFK refused to promise to advance the civil rights bill when he ran for POTUS, ducked votes in the Senate about it, and 3.5 yrs later, as POTUS, still had not tried to get it through congress.

Elenanor Roosevelt on JFK - "He could use a lot more courage and a lot less profile."

MLK - on being told by JFK that the time was not right -- "the time is always right to do what is right." The time wasn't right as far as JFK was concerned because he was concerned with winning reelection. Not saying he sucked, but he has definitely been mythologized.

And sadly, comparing Obama to any of them just falls absolutely flat.

12. Why not. His daughter said it was ok to show a pic of JFK and his wife
in a crowd.

Have you decided that this is no longer acceptable?

14. I couldn't care less about the picture
It's the bullshit you are trying to wrap around it that's the problem.

23. I didn't compare them to him
But I think what is being compared by some is the cultish adoration. Sorry, there is not a politician on earth that deserves that, and especially not the under accomplished Obama.

22. Your JFK story on civil rights is a lie.
Do I need to post his speech and his BIO in reference to the 1964 Civil Rights Act? That was his bill, no LBJ's. LBJ got it through congress because JFK happened to get assassinated.

26. He made the speech, and then did nothing
The Civil Rights Act of 1957 was passed by the Eisenhower Administration (and JFK tried ducked that vote), and then nothing for 7 yrs. Profile in Courage, eh?

comparison: Charisma cuts both ways. duh. It can be wielded for good or ill purposes.

I can't believe what a feeble little strawman you're erecting.

Pathetic and repulsive to try and link Obama to Hitler.

8. I once had a friend who was in Hitler's Youth and said he
went to one of his big mass meeting with this group and he said it really made your heart beat fast. It was so 'for Germany' and all that and this man had been born in NJ and taken back to Germany with his sister because his parents were Germans just working over here. This is just a note on how one young boy felt about it. Please do not say I like Hitler.

Did I miss those concentration camps during the Clinton years? Oops sorry I was too busy becoming successful and able to buy my own place and a decent car.
You might want to watch the broad brushing there.

25. Well, that surprised me.
Until I got to the bottom, I had no idea the quotes were about Hitler.

Makes you wonder. If the man had only used his gifts for good instead of evil, this world would have been magnificent by now.

The same can be said for the bushes. If only they had used their power and drive for good instead of evil, just imagine what this country would look like now.
