March 9 Primaries: Does Anybody Even Care Anymore?
I'm voting for Dean Tuesday and no one can stop me.

Does anyone else feel strongly one way or another or is peace really breaking out?

1. Are you *trying* to pick a fight?
Why should you care what people think about how you vote tomorrow????

for one was really wanting to hear about Dean supporters vote plans!
I am very excited about the Dean vote continuing. These votes are sincere and motivating. I for one am not the least bit motivated by kerry, so this is a real lift up for an early Monday.

So, if that is ones impression of "picking a fight" then so be it, but I fail to see any connection other than sharing great information.

4. Well your opening post didn't ASK for just Dean supporters.
It asked in a very provoking way does anybody care and was baiting people for a fight, actually. And judging from your response to me, now I'm SURE that's what you had in mind.

BTW, it's been more peaceful - till you came along.

5. You drew first blood.
And by the way, this is not my post nor did I start the thread. So, just stand corrected and lets keep the peace......

I am impressed by the grace in victory shown by so many of Kerry's supporters.

10. Voting sends a message
We support Dean's message, and think it's important enough for Kerry to see that he shouldn't take his support for granted without figuring out what fires us as a constituency. This is not about fighting - it's about having a voice. To expect us to thoughtlessly fall in line behind Kerry is arrogant and really annoying and no different than what Republicans do with GWB.

2. Yes and yes!
I think peace is breaking out, and I think many feel strongly about their candidates! :) I voted for Clark here in Wisconsin, just days after he dropped out. I couldn't imagine doing anything different, after having poured my heart and soul into his campaign for those months. I don't blame you at all for voting for 'your candidate' tomorrow, and I'm sure you won't be alone in voting for Dean. It's a way of making one last statement before moving on to the General Election campaign, which will need the full commitment of every Democrat in the nation (and then some).

6. Good and good
We (or the overwhelming majority of we) will be supporting Kerry in the end, but in the meantime we do have our own statements to make. I do hope for large turnouts for the remaining primaries, especially since in many states those who vote in primaries are ineligible to sign petitions to get third party candidates on the ballot.

9. Yes
I voted for DK in early voting, and am hoping that people will vote as they originally planned instead of voting in lockstep. In fact, I hope that lots of people will vote for not-Kerry since they feel he is safe. I'm not anti-Kerry, I just think that having an interesting primary result will shake up the media in a way that they need to be shaken up. I've known Kerry would get the nomination since last spring, so for me the primaries have only been about keeping the conversation going and keeping public attention on it.

14. I'm not just hoping
Canvass, make phone calls, write letters... there are many ways you can help other democratic voters to realize that influencing our party is actually something worthwhile, and not a wasted effort.

...and I thought it was the Republicans who were the ones always trying to get people disenfranchised from the process. :(

12. The media still cares------and right now that's #1 importance to me
I don't care if you get out and write in your mother for the nomination. The media is still (and finally) reporting Dem "stuff". Keep the message being that lots of people are turning out to vote. It puts panic in Bush and makes him spend some of his wad and it gives us free publicity...and we need all the 'free' we can get. Heard Howard speak the other day and he talked about his real concern that we only have about 50% or less of the people in this nation voting and he feels with such low turnout we will soon be a second rate country. If you support Dean so much, then you will get out and vote and bring friends with you. Howard seems to be about more than just his own candidacy; perphaps his followers should follow suit.

19. The media is still missing out
when it comes to covering Dennis Kucinich's message and the tremendous loyalty to the Democratic party that he has inspired in his supporters.
Before hearing Dennis speak, I thought that only third party candidates could represent my ideals.
The tenacity, focus, and intelligence that Dennis Kucinich displays are inspirational to me, and many other like-minded voters.
I hope that the Democratic party can continue to demonstrate that it embraces viewpoints of liberal thinkers.
I hope that the media pays Dennis Kucinich some attention.

Gee I don't think so... oh wait... you mean just among democrats? Well I guess so, maybe.

I thought you meant for all those people we're sending marines to 'free'. Sorry.

15. Peace breaking out
Only to some extent in GD Fight Club. Now you have to go the the Lounge if you want a good old-fashioned flame war.

Everywhere else I expect we're still "Civilizing 'em with a Krag" like we've done for the last century or so.

20. I care because
it gives the Dems some air time. When the primaries are over we will see very little of the Dems and much more of Bush going around making fundraising speeching, getting all kinds of free air time.

21. Mine is March 16th, and I care.
We have an enormously important Senate primary, plus some hot local races.

I plan on voting for Dr. Dean in the primary, btw. It's my 'strategic' vote. :)

22. We've got an important Congressional race or two
Tomorrow will determine whether Lloyd Doggett will be staying in Congress in his new district. Up in North Austin the GOPers will be choosing from eight candidates who range from horrible to really, really scrary (and remember this is by Texas standards so that's saying something). No Democrat has filed in that district. But in my district a totally unknown Democrat Rhett Smith is unopposed for the honor of being crushed by the creepy Lamar Smith in November.

Austin of course is not Texas (thank god). I expect we'll see a fair number of Dean and Kucinich people show up at our precinct caucuses Tuesday night and move on to the county convention a few weeks later. What happens in the rest of the state I have no idea at this point.
