Saul Alinksi, Mike Kruglik, and Obama, the Master of Agitation....
1. I don't care if this is older, it needs to be revisited.
2. I don't care about the source, I happen to agree.
3. I believe this is how he gets into people's heads.

One of Obama's early mentors in the Alinsky method was Mike Kruglik, who had this to say to an Ryan Lizza of The New Republic, about Obama:

"He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards. As with the panhandler, he could be aggressive and confrontational. With probing, sometimes personal questions, he would pinpoint the source of pain in their lives, tearing down their egos just enough before dangling a carrot of hope that they could make things better."

"The agitator's job, according to Alinsky, is first to bring folks to the "realization" that they are indeed miserable, that their misery is the fault of unresponsive governments or greedy corporations, then help them to bond together to demand what they deserve, and to make such an almighty stink that the dastardly governments and corporations will see imminent "self-interest" in granting whatever it is that will cause the harassment to cease. In these methods, euphemistically labeled "community organizing," Obama had a four-year education, which he often says was the best education he ever got anywhere."

<snip>
Perhaps Hillary will win some states and stay in the game a while longer, but I fear this knight with his adoring, fawning followers is just too slick for her and ole Bill, and he seems to know how to play Alinsky ends-and-means hardball without actually breaking the law.

someone lost respect for me, because I hapen to agree with this;

One of Obama's early mentors in the Alinsky method was Mike Kruglik, who had this to say to an interviewer of The New Republic, about Obama:

"He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards. As with the panhandler, he could be aggressive and confrontational. I don't agree with all of the article, but I do think this is how Obama gets into people's heads.

16. I thought I was clear with the intent of the post.
It's strictly about Obama, and him being the "Master Agitator". Nothing more. The rest of the article, I have no comment on, one way or the other.

I asked you a question and you informed me that I misread your post. Stop with the stupid analogies. For the record I've also made posts supportive of Hillary.

This board is so antagonistic. Every one is looking for a fight.

4. How is this any worse than threads that ask when Aipac is going to endorse Hillary?
Obama supporters sure love to give it, but they can't take it.

8. I'm not going to bother with this but I will comment that it is a sad,
sad day when a (formerly) progressive website starts bashing Saul Alinski. Somebody sure has taken a wrong turn in their fervor to back their candidate and bash her opponent by demonizing Saul Alinski. No further comment.

15. I actually took the time to read up on him....
and nothing I read, or thought, was bad at all. I just thought Mike Kruglik was dead on with his assesment of Obama. I have wondered for SO long how Obama was getting in people's heads, and I think this is it.

Nothing bad to say about Saul, at all.

18. Well that's good. Saul was a great man and a fierce fighter for social
justice all his life. Hated and feared by the right wing and corporate interests. He both literally and figuratively wrote the book of community organizing. He's a particular hero of mine and if Obama is a (generation removed) disciple then he has just gone way up in my respect and admiration

Those who want to know about a great man should Google Saul Alinski and read up a bit.

What's interesting is that Obama and Hillary are both Chicago democrats with roots to Alinsky, both more intellectuals than true politicians in the Bill/Edwards mold, both introverts, etc.

they have A LOT in common, and I imagine, they could be great friends and have amazing conversations

it's interesting
