Need some advice from those who've been to one of the big rallys...
Obama is holding a rally in Boston Monday night with Kennedy, Kerry, and Gov. Patrick. Starts at 8, doors open at 7. How early should we get there if we want to actually get in?

Thanks! :hi:

1. I'd recommend no later than 6, maybe earlier
I'll be trying for between 5:00 and 6:00 PM. Be ready to stand in line for a while.

3. I agree.
We went to an Obama rally over an hour early and barely got in. But with Kennedy and Kerry in MA?! The earlier the better. Id be willing to bet the line will start forming in the early afternoon.

4. People here were lining up five hours before Obama today
But today is a weekend, too, so more could do that.

I'd show up at least two hours beforehand, at a minimum.

I wonder if Lee L. Mercer Jr. will make it to town before Tuesday (all three)?

5. you should go to barackobama.com
and RSVP so you can get in--you can get links to local events. and then get there like an hour and a half or two hours early.

6. RSVP's dont guarantee you get in.
We learned that the hard way. I think it even says as much on his website now.

7. I think it depends on how many people they are allowing in and where you want to be.
Last Monday I showed up two hours before the rally at American University and the line was already very long. I heard some showed up at 5:00am. I didn't make it in.

10. My advice
1. Call the Somerville campaign office. Bug them and see if they have any tickets

2. Offer to volunteer at the event. You might have to spend time getting people to sign cards and what not, but you'll be guaranteed of getting in the door.

3. Get there several hours early. Have a late lunch at Anthony's Pier 4 and get there well ahead of time.

4. Be fired up (and ready to go).
