MSNBC: Pat Buchanan notes suicide an option if it's McCain vs Hillary
Weird how some of Obama's supporters on DU manage to sound like Buchanan at the prospect of Hillary's nomination:

Quote of the Day

"If you've got a Hillary and McCain race, you've got a third option: That's the pistol on the bed table."

-- Pat Buchanan on MSNBC.

5. Pretty much the meaning of Coulter's "endorsement too". In this case, an argument FOR
having such a GE choice.

11. Pat can take that option if he likes.
He's right in the sense that voting for either of them would be intolerable, but suicide isn't my recommendation. Honestly, I don't know what I would do yet. My mind is not allowing the possibility of a Hillary coronation yet, because I don't believe it will happen. This country is tired of Bush-Clinton.

On the bright side, if they end the writer's strike, that campaign will make for a lot of hilarious comedy for Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Bill Maher.

Firstly Buchanan's far-RW, and secondly he's a fucking racist.

if you listen to most RW republicans they trash everything democrat... Buchanan talks about strategy and what works and what does not... analyzes... he admitted that the votes he got in Florida were a mistake because of the stupid butterfly ballots... he didn't have to do that!

30. That's encouraging, although I've heard the talking heads say different
I can't remember who but I'm pretty sure it was someone on Countdown--they said that a Clinton candidacy would unite the Republican party and get them behind McCain, but that there wouldn't be the same reaction against Obama. Other people have said that too, especially after Florida.

I hope you're right that McCain is that weak a candidate but I'm worried that an anti-Clinton kneejerk reaction and his old reputation as a maverick would be enough to get uninformed voters to vote for him.

32. Here's my reasoning, in part.
Hillary can compete better in the areas of experience and matters of national security, much better. Also, McCain has already admitted that economic policy is his weak point. That's one of Hillary's very strong areas. Hillary gives concrete plans, while McCain has done no such thing.

And look at it this way. When Hillary wins the nomination, that will put to rest any residue of "she can't win" or "She polarizes". She will already have won her party's nomination, and she will go on to win the general election.

The Democrats are holding all the winning cards in this election. We campaign, we work hard, and we win.

Obama, on the other hand, will look more weak and inexperienced when matched up against McCain. Hillary/McCain is a much better matchup for us than Obama/McCain.

Besides, Olbermann has gone to a grat deal of trouble to let it be known that he supports Obama. He has an agenda.

31. Mr. Buchanan is
a strange case. Everyone who is at least one-half Irish American has a relative who is the family Patrick Buchanan. You might enjoy chatting with him at family functions from time to time, especially if the topic is foreign affairs. He is not fun to sit near if there is drinking taking place, and the topic is about social values. And you don't want to live in the same county, much less town/city, as he inhabits.

Buchanan is interesting when it comes to MSNBC discussions about international politics. He is intelligent and knows history -- or at least Euro-American history. But he really is off the wall on domestic issues. I do not think he is comfortable with either Clinton or Obama, and I have yet to hear him put together his part of a long discussion on either, without his discomfort being evident.
