McCain leads Clinton by 8; Obama by 6.
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 12:48 AM by calteacherguy
I post this not to bring everyone down or lose hope, but merely to make us sober to the challenge that lies before us. McCain will be a formidable candidate. Can we win against him? Yes we can!

And now on to the sobering info....

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey of Election 2008 shows Republican frontrunner Senator John McCain with single-digit leads over Democratic Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. McCain now leads Clinton 48% to 40%. He leads Barack Obama 47% to 41%.

Yes we can!

justice and will stack the court so that we live in a backward, conservative country for the next 30 years.

9. We can win this
Either of them can beat McCain. It's good to know where things stand now and that there is ground to make up, but when people see the the contrast between the Democrats' enthusiasm for Clinton or Obama (or both!) versus the Republicans' lukewarm endorsement (or outright hostility) of Romney or McCain, I believe we will see a lot of numbers change.

12. The polls are meaningless
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 12:58 AM by doc03
Dukakis was supposedly something like 18 points ahead after the convention and lost. Al Gore was several percent ahead and it ended up being decided in Florida buy what 130 votes. I don't know if the election was stolen or not, I have heard arguments both ways. If Al Gore would have just carried his own state he would be President today. Same way with Kerry he was way ahead at one time too.

on edit: McCain may go completely nuts in October and the Democrat would win or there could be another terror attack here that would probably put McCain in office.

22. Kerry was never way ahead and any point in 2004.
I think he was up by 2-3% during the summer, but nothing else. He never had a convention bounce. Meanwhile Bush was up by 6% during September after his convention. Bush's numbers didn't start going down until after the 1st debate where Kerry kicked his ass.

38. He was ahead of Bush during the primaries
And with a nice lead in May of 2004. Kerry didn't get a bounce from the convention and Bush got a big bounce from his convention. These early polls as bullshit. Let them go face to face and see what happens. McCain has nothing to offer. We have a nice crop of candidates this time around.

He had one poll bad for Bush in August, 2004, and he's been kissing Republican hiney ever since to make up for it.

Most of the polls have a lean. Like ARG. Totally unreliable when they're pushing a candidate.

portion of the poll...it's not just scott. the biggest prob with their polls is their automated, so they could be skewed for that reason...but they can also afford to do them daily.

27. Since they are the same vote based on their merits not on some imaginary head to head.
Mostly McCain has not been slimed yet. He will not look so good once his pro-war stance has been trumpeted across the land. He can pretend he has a secret plan to end the war, but no one will believe him. The war will sink his campaign like an iceberg. AND he will be too noble to use race baiting tactics against Obama.

Your attempt at fear mongering is laughable, almost as laughable as McCain being their nominee.
