I have a nephew on his third tour, he also did a year over at the Forgotten front that is Afghanistan. Iraq is my number #1 issue as it was in 2004.

1. One of the attorneys I work with just went to a funeral yesterday for a 21 y/o
who took his own life instead of being shipped out.

I have a 20 year old son... I have a grandchild. I have nephews and neices who are in their teens.

My husband's cousin has served.

Yes, Iraq is my issue! and the economy issues flow from Iraq.

7. My husband deployed in support of Iraq, but was only in the country itself for a short time.
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 12:16 AM by wienerdoggie
The rest of the time he was elsewhere in the Middle East (Qatar, Kuwait). The war is my number one issue.
edit to add: he will go back, to either Iraq or Afghanistan

9. I as well.
1 Sister (Navy - 1 tour aboard CVN-75 during initial invasion)
2 Step-brothers (Marines - 1 tour each)
1 Friend (Army - 1 tour)
1 Acquaintance (Marines - just began 2nd tour)

And though all my family has made it back unharmed (phisically at least), it's still probably my biggest issue.

10. a close family friend
who used to work for us in high school. He's served 3 tours and is home with a back injury. The grandson of an old old family friend is there right now. My son's cousin on his father's side was there a few years ago. Luckily we have not had any losses.

And I have to remind people who maybe didn't realize, but Vietnam went on like this for much of the country too. People going about their business, frustrated at the endless war, not knowing how to make it end.
