(Murdoch's New York) POST ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA

POST ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA

January 30, 2008 -- Democrats in 22 states across America go to the polls next Tuesday to pick between two presidential prospects: Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

We urge them to choose Obama - an untried candidate, to be sure, but preferable to the junior senator from New York.<snip>

For all his charisma and his eloquence, the rookie senator sorely lacks seasoning: Regarding national security, his worldview is beyond naive; America must defend itself against those sworn to destroy the nation.

His all-things-to-all-people approach to complicated domestic issues also arouses scant confidence. "Change!" for the sake of change does not a credible campaign platform make. But he remains a highly intelligent man, with a strong record as a conciliator.<snip>

Finally, Sen. Clinton stands philosophically far to the left of her husband, and is much more disciplined in pursuit of her agenda.<snip>

7. Murdoch has already made contributions to Hillary
He's hedging his bet -- the same way he did in Britain with Tony Blair.

15. He "hedged his bet" with Hillary when she seemed "inevitable" and
record numbers of casualties were being reported on daily from Iraq on the news every night and it seemed impossible that the Republicans could win.

He is backing Obama now.

8. it's because
they can see how malleable Obama is/will be

his Reagan/Republican ideas comments are music to Murdoch's ears

this is their dream candidate

an unseasoned rookie, who wants to 'reach across the aisle' and make nicey nice with radical right wing republican war mongers

anyone who doesn't see this is naive

Reads to me like the Post is more worried about Obama.

17. I personally couldn't care what the Post has to day.
It's not my kind of reading material.

But I do enjoy watching the "clinton supporters" try to make political hay out of this "endorsement" and then finding out that the Post endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2006.

13. They first call him naive, unsophisticated, and unrealistic, and then say Clinton is determined
and smart. And then endorse Obama. They don't even bother hiding it.

20. worried about how easy it would be to take him down
The post just wants people to vote for him because they can get new yellow journalism on him. Hillary stories are old and boring. No one gives a fuck about Whitewater, the Mcdougalls, and all the lies about Billary. B. Hussein Obama is much better for papers like the post, they can delve into his background, peddle muslim stories, and it would catch on because he has no policy experience to detract from the rumors. If Obama had more experience, I think the rumours would stick less with non-liberals, who suspect him.

16. Obama is the chosen candidate
the effort appears to be underway to force Clinton out of the race before the convention.

He's the perfect candidate, lots of baggage, easy to defeat.

19. Thanks for the HRC endorsement, NY Post. I couldn't have said it better...
"Finally, Sen. Clinton stands philosophically far to the left of her husband, and is much more disciplined in pursuit of her agenda"

I'll take that over hope and mediation.
