Poll question: Why did Edwards Bow Out Now?
None of us know the reason, but what does your intuition tell you?

2. Other. I think he knows he can't win, and he wants to free up
his supporters to vote for Obama on 2/5. Whether he officially endorses Obama before then or not, he knows his supporters will not jump to corporate Hillary. This is the boost that Obama needs to shine on Tuesday.

5. I believe that's "He wasn't winning"
But I think he had many reasons and it was the sum total of them all which made his mind up.

However, I voted "dumb poll".

;)

10. Except the first one, in which he took second, and was soundly ignored for it.
No, nobody took any cues from the "he can't win" media... nobody does that... that's unheard of.

4. Other: The Clinton campaign kidnapped his children and threatened him
I give it a day before this conspiracy theory pops up on DU...

9. Florida!
Florida helped him see the writing on the wall. There was no path to victory for him. Obama has a death grip on the black vote, on the upscale white liberal vote. Clinton dominates among women and downscale whites and hispanics. What could Edwards do to move these voters and alter these balances in a mere week. Not much, except spend a lot of money to no real avail.

He's a realist and finally saw the writing on the wall. And I still insist, against the media, that is why Florida matters, because it shows how after all the positive spin and coverage of Obama and all the thrashing of Clinton, the electorate is what it is and highly favors Clinton.

And from here on out it's wholesale politics not retail politics. No more Iowa and New Hampshire style campaigning, no more weeks and weeks to move people and change their minds.

11. No one knows and anyone's "intuition" is just rumor-mongering nonsense.
