I am sincerely sorry about Edwards, guys
I mean that sincerely. He was my strong second choice.

I lived in NC for 17 years, and my parents and many friends still do live there, so Johnny has always been a sentimental favorite for me. I also liked seeing the Linthead Kid make good. He's a good guy with a terrific wife and kids.

I know y'all stuck by him through thick and thin, and I know this has to suck. But, at least we'll all get to see him as AG this time next year.

Mrs Clinton is not my first choice.
But you won't catch me bashing her.
And if she gets the nod I will happily pull the lever for her.

18. I posted on the Clinton supporters thread for Edwards also but
I am reposting now because it isn't something I only want to say to Clinton supporters. As a veteran of the 2004 Democratic Prmary contests on DU, I have a history of sorts with John Edwards and his supporters. I feel like I almost know a lot of them here personally by now. The dedication that you all have felt for John Edwards and the value that you gave to his message is inspirational to me. Sometimes I will admit it was maddening too, but we have lived through the heat of battle, and I understand that. Since the primary race heated up this year by and large you have been to my mind some of the most constructive participants in the political debates that rage at DU.

And John Edwards has stood proud on his platform though the media showed little relative interest in covering him. Although, before the Obama/Clinton slug fests, there used to be more heated battles here between DU's Edwards and Clark supporters, I just want you all to know that John Edwards did break through to me. The rest of this is my repost:

I increasingly came to respect John Edwards.

And I always respected the issues that he championed. I know he has been a constant voice inside the Democratic Party, calling us to our populist roots, defending the interests of Americans who have few people actively defending them. On a national level there has been no one doing more than John Edwards to give voice to the economic difficulties facing the least advantaged among us. I am very proud of John Edwards for doing so.

At one time back in 2003 it might have seemed like a "popular issue" to run on - when George W. Bush's first term was marked by the loss of multiple millions of jobs. But slowly the economy "improved" since then and the unemployment rate went down, even though structural poverty continued to be ignored and even though the seeds of the credit crisis were being sowed. Still, the problems with our economy because less obvious to many voters, but John Edwards never forgot. He remained a voice for the under privileged in America. He remained a voice for those who still had jobs who were only getting by because they managed to refinance there homes.

John Edwards did not forget poverty when many voters did. He leaves a void in this race and I heard that he called both Clinton and Obama personally to ask them both to orient their campaigns more toward fighting poverty in America (and that they both agreed). I hope I get to hear a great deal more from both John and Elizabeth Edwards. I truly believe that they both will keep fighting for the issues they believe in. I only wait to see the details. The direction of their lives work is set, and I know they will pursue this as hard as John Edwards pursued the Presidency. They deserve time to rest a little now, and I hope Elizabeth knows that her own voice will continue to be heard. She reached us too. They both are fighters in the best sense of that word.

38. I guess it's time to put on my Hillary '08 button!
I was/am an Edwards supporter, but I was also realistic enough to see fairly early that he wasn't getting the traction he needed for the long haul.

I've been disappointed before, and no doubt will be again. Gore was my first choice, but he chose not to run. Edwards was my first choice among the actual candidates. But the most important thing to me is that we get the damn Repukes out of the White House and out of Congress. I don't want to "work with them." I don't want to be "bipartisan." I want to kick their asses.

Hillary got a TON of votes in Florida yesterday in a primary that supposedly doesn't matter, and where she didn't campaign. The Big Dog kicked the Pugs asses TWICE. He and HRC know how to win.

So to sum up, I guess Hillary's "my girl" now!
