Many Democrats just don't know who to vote for.

I consider my mother to be a fairly typical Democrat. She watches the mainstream news, hates Bush, and just wants a Dem in office.

I've had many conversations with her about Edwards and such and she agrees with a lot of what is said here on DU. I've showed her the polls showing Edwards as the best candidate in the general election (only one who beats McCain).

Even though she has given a lot of thought, she just called me from her car on the way to vote (Florida). She still doesn't know what to do.

She doesn't care much for Hillary and is afraid she will lose in the general election.

She likes Obama better than Hillary, but is afraid he will lose in the general election, will get attacked by Rove & co as a Muslim, etc.

She likes Edwards the best but has been drilled by the media that he's "out" and doesn't want to waste her vote.

Where does that leave her (and I'm guessing a few million others with similar views) ??

She said, "I just want a Democrat who can win in November. That's all I care."

I told her again, Edwards matches up best against the Republicans.

but she doesn't want to waste her vote.

I told her I am so disappointed with the Democratic Leadership (DLC, etc) because it is THEY, along with the media, who have been blatantly squashing Edwards.

I told her, "I don't know what to tell you. Except when in doubt, follow your heart."

The fact that she's given so much thought to this and she's on the way to the polls and she still doesn't know what to do... I think there are many in her boat. Many mainstream dems who are concerned about nominating a candidate who might not be the strongest choice in the general election, folks who would vote for Edwards if he were more "viable" in the primary.

I'm just sick of this. I have no answers anymore...

I think there are many like her. Just don't know what to do...

Other than for him, I have no clue whom I would vote for.

(That grammar sounds really wrong.)

3. The Kennedys endorsement of Obama sealed it
for me..I leaned Edwards too, but I trust Ted and Caroline. Ted is a dyed in the wool liberal and Caroline is speaking her heart. I don't think they'd deliberately steer us wrong. I would guess they both sat down and talked with Obama and came away supporters. I'll be putting the X by his name in the booth.
