RFK family supports Hillary
In this morning's Los Angeles Times Bobby Kennedy's family says they support Hillary not Barack:

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-kennedy29jan29,0,1618955.story

Kennedys for Clinton By Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Kerry Kennedy

"By now you may have read or heard that our cousin, Caroline Kennedy, and our uncle, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, have come out in favor of Sen. Barack Obama. We, however, are supporting Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton because we believe that she is the strongest candidate for our party and our country. … We have worked with Hillary Clinton for 15 years (and in Kathleen's case, 25 years) and witnessed the power and depth of her convictions firsthand. We've seen her formidable work ethic, courage in the face of adversity and her dignity and clear head in crisis. We've also seen her two-fisted willingness to enter the brawl when America's principles are challenged. Her measured rhetoric, political savvy and pragmatism shield the heart of our nation's most determined and most democratic warrior."

3. Thanks for posting this! I especially agree with this sentence:
The loftiest poetry will not solve these issues. We need a president willing to engage in a fistfight to safeguard and restore our national virtues.

I love and value poetry and sweeping speeches, but when it comes down to survival I'll take the savvy and seasoned fighter.

4. I don't think Ethel Kennedy
Supports Hillary. She's referred Obama as "Our next President." That's what I read...

I'm guessing there's a few more empty chairs at the Kennedy family Thanksgiving ;-). Just kidding, they are a lovely family and they are wonderful to talk to! I've met Eunice and Ted.

7. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is the perfect person to represent Hillary.
A Democrat who lost to a Republican in one of the bluest states in the nation is endorsing the Democrat most likely to lose to a Republican in this election.

Perfect.

13. Get your facts on
Martin O'Malley was serving his first term as Mayor of Baltimore and refused to support her because he had his own plans to be governor.

Which he now is.

16. Get your facts on
O'Malley was polling much higher than Townsend and was beating Erlich in head-to-head match-up polling when he got a "visit" from some of the same folks pushing Hillary upon us now. He was furious but he pulled out of the race. KKT lost to Erlich in a race that O'Malley could have easily won. In fact, when given a "do-over" he did win against Erlich.

And what part of my original statement isn't true? Kathleen Kennedy Townsend LOST to a Republican in one of the bluest states in the nation. That IS a fact,

18. What a load of crap
O'Malley hadn't even completed his first term as mayor which he vowed to do.

He didn't want a Dem in because he couldn't run against an incumbent Dem and win.

19. So it's O'Malley's fault KKT lost?
You are a fool.

Kathleen lost to a Republican for the same reasons Hillary will lose. She was not well-liked and had absolutely zero appeal to independents.

You know, I didn't even mention the O'Malley mess in my original post. I said KKT was a Democrat who lost to a Republican in a blue state. I'll ask again, how is that not a fact?

BTW, I voted for Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. I won't make that same mistake with Hillary.

23. Is name calling permitted here?
Until I find out, I'll reserve a response to your shrill personal attack.

KKT did not have the support of the Democratic party machinery in Baltimore City.

It's what I patiently and kindly explained to you in my first post.

O'Malley was the heir apparent and KKT was just in the way.

Hillary Clinton is the ONLY Democrat who can win the general election against the GOP.

24. You can blame it on "Dem party machinery..." all you want.
She ran a terrible campaign and lost to a republican in a blue state.

And, please, if you tattle to the admins, make sure you mention your "kind and polite" statements, "Get your facts on" and "That's a load of crap."

25. Not surprised at your confusion
if referring to a load of crap as a "load of crap" is name calling to you.

You have answered my question, though.

Down in the dumps about yer feller, I suppose.

28. The only way the Democratic nominee can lose in November is if Michigan and Florida go Republican...
...and they will if their primary election votes are stolen from them.

8. I'm horribly disappointed in RFK Jr. over this
I caught a speech of his last Sept., and he was saying all the good, populist, liberal things that we've been saying all along. Then he goes and endorses the most corporately compromised candidate on the slate. What was he thinking?

10. Very well could be, however that doesn't help my opinion of him
The fact that he's willing to inflict Hillary on us to further his own political ambition lowers him dramatically in my eyes.

30. Oh trust me, I've done plenty of digging,
And Hillary is no environmental savior. Her adherence to "clean" coal, liquified coal, ethanol, and CAFE standards that are lukewarm at best(40 mpg by 2020, puhleeze) are just a few of the drawbacks. In addition, she champions nuclear power, carbon trading(a chimera that helps out corporate America without significantly reducing carbon output) and has received substantial donations from the oil and energy sector.

Hillary talks a green game, but if she gets into office, it's going to be business as usual.

12. But who is Eunice backing?
Will any of these endorsements sway any votes? God I hope not, any more than I would hope Pat Robertson could sway voters to choose Giuliani. (Clearly he can't.) People should choose their candidates the good old-fashioned way: see who their family and friends are voting for, and go along with the crowd.

26. I beleve RFK Jr's endorsement was more personal and regional

My hunch is that he likes her, and that is why he endorsed her. Nothing more sinister than that.

His main cause has been environmental issues in New York state.

In that position, he has had occasion to work with Hillary closely. I gather they had a very good working relationship and she has been supportive of his efforts....And I'm sure after Al D'Amato, she was a breath of fresh air to him and his constituency.

29. And if obama believes that ted is going to help with the latino
voters then he has the wrong Kennedy. It was Robert Kennedy that did the most work in helping the latinos and this relationship is stronger more so today. HRC did receive the endorsement of the United Field Workers union and that will be great for California, and in Arizona and New Mexico. We already seen the outstanding support the latino community gave hrc in Nevada....
