Up is downism again
Will the Real Jay Carson please stand up?
(Contrasting Rinaldo's first discussion with a latter quote.)

http://www.newsday.com/news/politics/wire/sns-ap-clark-ad,0,5158245,print.story?coll=sns-ap-politics-headlines
Newsday, Dec 29th - in reference to Clark's ad featuring Clinton giving him the Medal of Freedom

Jay Carson, a Dean spokesman, said the ad "doesn't make up for a lifetime of voting Republican. We're looking forward to seeing the Nixon-Reagan-Bush-Rumsfeld-Cheney ad."

contrast this with:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A39714-2003Dec29

Tuesday, December 30th - Washington Post

Jay Carson, spokesman for Dean, said the Vermont Democrat is running a positive campaign that can generate the money and momentum to beat Bush. He said it is Dean's rivals who are doing the attacking -- out of desperation. "The politics of attack . . . is exactly the kind of politics that turns off voters and suppresses turnout," Carson said. "It's bad for the party."

Is there a pod?

5. Im surprized by Kucinich supporters...
Edited on Tue Dec-30-03 03:26 PM by OrAnarch
..who seem to have the exact opposite of DK's personality, probably due to recent frustration. How many things does Kucinich really HATE? Perhaps your personality would mesh better with a different candidate?

9. Yeah I thought liberals were supposed to be about love and stuff
You know, find the good where you can. I guess its just another example of people throwing principles in the trash when it comes to politics.

10. Please
Are all Dean's supporters angry and vitriolic? Do they all get red in the face like he does?

Come off it... this 'we expect liberals to be pollyannas' was tired when Republicans did it and it's tired now.

12. I understand what you're saying
but repeatedly posting that while sporting that sig line IS hypocritical. Sorry.

14. Surely it is, no argument there
But why drag his support for Kucinich into it?

I get so tired of hearing that crap from repugs: you're so concerned about the environment... do you recycle EVERYTHING?! if you're so concerned about animals, do you not kill flies?! ... and other similar garbage.

Nobody's perfect, but expecting some people to be more perfect based on their ideology, their religion, whatever, is bullsauce.

8. If "Hate" isn't strong enough word then take a stand

Just vote for Chimpy. You may do that in three ways: Vote for Bush directly, don't vote, or vote for a third party spoiler.

Good luck.

17. Bush can have the election
if the Dems nominate a lying jackass like Dean.

This country is going to hell either way.

Why should I vote for Dean? So the country can go to hell? Why should I vote for Bush? So the country can go to hell?

I will not support a candidate who will make this country go to hell.

I will not support Dean or Bush.

18. well
in this case it was a Dean spokesman, not Dean himself...
and i think on the scale of country going to hell, Dean falls far behind W* (imagine what SCOTUS will look like if the sob gets reelected)

At the end of the day, there are 9 candidates in this race - with support tied up all over the map. How could i ask someone else to compromise on their candidate if i'm unwilling to do it myself.

i dont have to like him, i can like him less every day, but come november ABB has to be the rule no matter the nominee.

Btw - full points on the big Austin bash!!! Kucinich has a lot of friends in Austin and it sounds like its going to be great fun.

2. not cool IMO
Must not of gotten the memo on the 29th. Valid point, no doubt, in what he said, but flagrant attack.

Double speak from the double speaking candidate's staff. So what's new?

6. It's politics...
They all do it...

Wish Dean's staff wouldn't, though.

They all say they're running a positive campaign while attacking each other. It's silly.

7. I do not see the big problem... seems pretty clear from the context...

Sayign that attack ads turn off the voters is true. However it is also true that Clark is in a position where the attacks on his support for Nixon-Reagan-Bush-Rumsfeld-Cheney are not going to be negated by a photo op with him and Clinton.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A39714-2003Dec29

"He shouldn't be able to wipe away that record with one photo op of him and Clinton," said Stephanie Cutter, a Kerry spokeswoman.

Jay Carson, a Dean spokesman, said the ad "doesn't make up for a lifetime of voting Republican. We're looking forward to seeing the Nixon-Reagan-Bush-Rumsfeld-Cheney ad."

Carson said Dean isn't concerned that voters will take the image of Clinton as an endorsement of Clark.

"Voters in America are very smart," he said. "They're not going to read a couple seconds of footage in an ad as anything more than a couple seconds of footage in the ad."
