What's with the continued venom and bullshit directed at Dean here?
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 12:44 AM by mzmolly
Might I suggest to the geniuses who start these divisive threads, that this is not the best way to gain support for the your candidate?

Adding, the anti Edwards threads tonight were equally offensive, and I'm not an Edwards supporter.

1. What's with the continued venom and bullshit directed at Kerry here?
It's time to grow up. We have a nominee. He's not Howard Dean.

Either join the party or go home, but stop blocking the doorway.

No candidate, nor his/her supporters, should be attacked now. There's simply no point to that.

He has NOT released any of his delegates to Kerry. Dean is going to be at the convention with his delegates.

candidate" go back and read the OP.

Regarding anti-Kerry threads *clue 1* when one is running for office, people scrutinize them. Get it?

Dean is no longer running for office. Clark is no longer running for office, CM Braun, is no longer.... Graham is no longer...

Now, go and count the anti-Dean threads from this evening, and compare them to the anti Clark threads, the anti-CM Braun threads, the anti X threads, then come back when you have a clue and can contribute meaningfully to the conversation here.

Dean himself said he will support the nominee. (This was always clear.) That should absolve him, and his supporters especially, from any attacks now that a nominee has been chosen.

There's no point to attacking any of the candidates now.

I've never seen so many snotty, insulting, classless posts since the primaries began. It's beyond explanation to me, but then again it's Kerry supporters.

Evidently they assume all Dean supporters are communists or Nader supporters, it's been a witch hunt for weeks. It's really sad that they can't be as classy as their candidate and atleast enjoy a huge victory before bush* unleashes his two million dollar war chest and
the whore media on them. It's sad really.

115. Dean has not lost, the nation has.
Dean is continuing with many thousands of us in groups already set up. He is going to bring change to the party. One of his goals in writing is to make sure the 2004 candidate continues to stand up for progressive values and doesn't back down.

If the candidate starts making too nice, Dean will be there and so will the rest of us. It is organized well already.

Making fun of us is most totally counterproductive.

24. I see no need to attack Dean
Certainly not to initiate an attack on Dean. That would just be bad sportsmanship, like the winner of the World Series bad mouthing a fourth place team that made a game effort during the season. I would only attack Dean if a Dean supporter attacked the party or John Kerry and presented Dean as an alternative.

the fact is, if you're going to decide your vote based on whether or not *I* offend you, then it's a lost cause. If *I* don't offend you, somebody else will.

Anybody who uses their vote as a weapon against tough discourse is sure to make a boneheaded decision eventually. I can guarantee you that I will not be the last person to offend you. So your vote is already lost.

since Kerry is now the nominee. We still have the same concerns about Kerry before he was the nominee. Are our concerns to be considered invalid now? Without criticism from the left, the nominee will go the same route of the DLC which failed us in the past such as with NAFTA, and deregulation of corporations, etc....

I know it's easier for you to believe that it's a vast conspiracy against you, but you should come down to earth and look at your own behavior and that of your cohorts. There are tons of Dean supporters here who've had no problem. A few have. I will argue that it was their behavior, not their affiliation, that caused their problems.

43. I'm guilty of setting such traps as well as falling into them...
I fell into one today about religion, I slogged into some about Nader, and I blundered into some over electability. In the past I have started posts ranting against the Senate votes of Kerry and Edwards, I started some slamming Tom Daschle, and I have ripped the past flip-flops of Gephardt and Kucinich regarding their positions on abortion.

But this period in the primaries is always the most difficult, when the supporters of the losing candidates are still angry at the front-runner..while the supporters of the frontrunner blame Democrats who are not yet on board. Of course the convention is usually the turning point, when the nominee picks a running mate..while the party begins to unite behind the national ticket and a winning message.

I suspect when Kerry picks a running mate, the attacks on Dean will finally cease. The real question is whether the attacks on Nader will ever cease?

IT IS NOT THE TIME TO ACT ON PETTY GRUDGES BECAUSE OF PREVIOUS FLAME WARS ON THIS BOARD. Sorry to yell but this tit for tat bullshit has got to stop. Are we going to unite behind Kerry and Beat Bush or not? And I have to say Kerry people sniping at Dean people and Dean people sniping at Kerry people is not going to get the job done. If we are going to unite, we need to treat each other with respect, whether we won(and not be sore "rub-salt-in-the-wounds" winners) or lost(and not be sore bitter losers). This is serious folks, we need to hang together or we'll hang separately. My way or the highway didn't work as a great unifying tool for Bush, and it won't work in the Democratic Party. :grr: :nuke: :argh:

for people who have attacked other candidates non-stop over the last few months, but expect to be immune from attacks against THEIR candidate.

I can see by the responses how difficult it is for them. But it's a life lesson. If you're a dick to others, you're gonna be treated like a dick. I'm not addressing that to you, forkboy. You know I like you. I'm talking about the people who went out of their way to spread every lie, smear and innuendo against other candidates and now whinge when people are less-than-respectful about THEIR candidate.

And no, that is not the serious work ahead. The serious work ahead is defeating Bush in November. Playing with the whiners is just a pleasant diversion.
