They were very staunch Hillary supporters, "we'll get bill back in the whitehouse" they used to say to me, but with Caroline's and Ted's endorsement they have switch to Obama. So it gained Obama at least two votes today!

27. Well, Ted's been around a long time, and he knows the Clintons very well,
and he knows Obama, too -- and obviously he knew JFK. So what is it that Ted doesn't know that he should know (and that a bunch of keyboard warriors at DU know way better), and how can he remedy his abysmal ignorance?

Well, obviously you are in a far better position to know what's going on
than ol' Ted, who's been in the Senate for only 40 years and personally knows and has worked with everyone concerned... Good for you. You should write to him and tell him he has to change his mind because he's been duped.

Ted Kennedy is probably the most respected Democrat in the Senate, and the Clintons wanted his endorsement very, very badly and sought it vigorously. Most endorsements are pretty meaningless, but this one isn't.

131. Well, then, you're just ignorant.
Ted has done a lot, LATELY, including efforts to oppose the war and the "surge" and to raise the minimum wage. But if you're so pissed off about this major endorsement that you can't be bothered to learn something about one of the most important and powerful liberal Senators of our time, then I doubt you'll bother to inform yourself.

133. "Well then, you're just ignorant..."
Nice Obama supporter, relax, its a message board and I get to say what I want.
You may or may not be ignorant, I wouldnt say either way but thats just me, I tend to not call people names nor make assumptions. I simply stated that Teddy is a corporate asshat who has done not one thing for years.

Oooo, efforts to oppose the war? Gosh, thats quite a bit of doing. Maybe I should endorse Obama as I too have made an effort to oppose the war.
Oh wait, I actually oppose the war instead of making an effort to oppose the war.
Again, his endorsement may mean something to someone but not I. He is not relevant and has done nothing for years.

Teddy hasnt done shit in years, never really did no matter what you say and his endorsement being swallowed like so much old dried spoogie by the Obama people is sheepthink at its finest.
It may mean something to those East Coast manic types but out here in the West, not so much.

Now excuse me, I have to make an 'effort' to oppose the war...

132. Not true.
Kennedy was instrumental in passing NCLB (an admittedly compromise bill) and the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill (another compromise bill) is enormously significant. He's also been one of the most vocal opponents of the Iraq war and proponents of raising the minimum wage.

I think they (Senators Kerry and Kennedy) see that young people are uniting in the Democratic Party.

Old politics is right, throw it out.

90. Like Kerry
and now plainly so, this is more than anything to do with an anti-Edwards slur. It is a rallying, practically minded(often wrong, sometimes defeated) by liberal party leaders at a time and in such a way as to help the best candidate when the one who yet has the best shot at winning the contest has proved in their considerable judgment to be on the way down and disproved and representative of things they want changed. Real specific things about the current party performance they want changed different than anything Edwards puts forward on his agenda. It is curious because I doubt these old warhorses and their liberal allies really have Dean or progressivism in mind. They are just alarmed at the likely results this fall and the likely performance of a Clinton redux WH worst foreshadowed by the self-deadlocked Dem Congress this past year.

The Clintons lost their case by being shaky in the early states to a brilliant newcomer. He shook it loose, though new and not particularly hard-nosed or borrowed GOP stylists in his campaign. The case is over. That most simply means the party MUST pay a heavy price for giving the Clintons their due again this fall. That price must not be paid. No human being who ever lived is worth it. Since the people do not see this at all, as with so much other reality diverted away from their consideration, leadership by those minimally sighted and awake is a duty. Kerry stepped up and led the way. The "revolt" or judgment will be done in the positive form of endorsements, escalating until February and perhaps other forms of reaching out to the voters.

These are much much more than spontaneous personal endorsements. It is an intra-party wave getting behind the clearest alternative for victory. if it ironically excludes Edwards as the fraudulent media has it is because so much of this is tragically due to the stranglehold the MSM influence has upon our awkward party decision making from the voter to the leadership. The Clintons are certainly victims of this as is Edwards. If another winner can clear the shoals, the parry leadership will get behind him.

135. NO it has
nothing to do with Edwards. I thought my admittedly garbled speculation said that. Seasoned political leaders of high principle are coming forward for Obama. It is not a popularity or personal choice thing but a real movement in the party leadership...it seems to me. The people have the final say on everything
regardless no matter what.

Obama took the risks in launching a stronger campaign against Hillary and was remarkable despite all the drawbacks of being new and what he was up against. More than impressive enough to be a smashing victor this fall and testing, near fatally, the the real world weakness of the Clinton campaign. That has been the most decisive thing to date yet the sheer strength of the Clinton campaign can secure the nomination still- at a more perceivable and needless cost to the party cause in November.

By babbling, my opinion, my interpretation of this steady endorsement wave. The most unplanned and spontaneous endorsement so far would seem to be that of Caroline Kennedy. Obama of course is the one MAKING that wave.
