If Obama Was A Republican
Forget his stances on issues and forget the fact that he's a lifelong Democrat. Let's say he had the exact opposite position on every issue. Let's say he was pro-life, anti-gay, pro-war, ect.

Now imagine him as the GOP nominee in 2008.

I wouldn't even vote. I'd be like, "shit, we've lost."

I can't look at him without imagining that if the Republicans had a guy like that, they'd be unstoppable.

Don't underestimate the power of charisma and personality.

Obama has it. The GOP doesn't.

That's why he, and we, are going to win.

1. What if God was Republican?
Man, thank goodness God isn't running as the republican nominee. Talk about charisma, the Man practically wrote the Bible on charisma... literally! If the Republicans were running God against us, no way we'd ever stand a chance in this year's election. Thank God God isn't a Republican... literally!

My post is marginally stupider than the OP.

4. An observation I've made
I spend time on the road throughout the week and I still see more Bush/Cheney '04 bumper stickers on vehicles than for all their current candidates combined. It may even be an entire week before you see a Huckabee, Giuliani or Romney sticker but down south you can count on seeing at least one or two Bush/Cheney '04 stickers every day.

6. Obama isn't quite as progressive as I'd like
but you have a point. That's why I'm going to vote for him. He has "it". That thing that makes people sit up and pay attention. The thing that asks people to do something that they ordinarily wouldn't.

7. worked for Reagan
not saying that Obama is Reagan

I'm just saying that the voter allowing them to choose a candidate based on that can be a dangerous thing
the best defense of democracy is an informed and active voter
its not the voter voting based on emotional appeal
