the main stream media will make sure experience does not count ...
they will make sure the dumbing down of america which started under bush continues under obama ...

henceforth, only the dumb need apply.

1. I didn't know a party nomination contest, much less a presidential election...
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 06:29 AM by ellisonz
...was a resume comparison exercise.

In fact, there are a number of elections that are contrary to that premise.

2. Experience exists in many forms.
I think the nation is sick of looking at political experience as the sole criteria. Who can play the game is not the most desirable job qualification now. We've gone through two decades of Roman circus-type political gamesmanship and it has hurt the nation greatly. What I am looking for is some one who will change the game. We are in such dire straits as a nation with huge, ever increasing problems facing us. My generation needs to help the younger generation find leaders who can work to a better tomorrow. And we all, all of us, need to quit fighting this "Cold Civil War"--to borrow a term I saw on another thread several days ago. We need to be the United States again. It seems to me that the ability to bind wounds and to heal is the most desirable a candidate can have now.

3. And what certain people are doing...
..in this election is the political equivalent of me listing my 2 years as an intern at a radio station getting coffee for people and picking up their drycleaning on my resume as "Promotions Associate".

If that experience doesn't come with...you know any actually responsibility or actual legislative accomplishments.....then how does it count as experience for this particular job?

4. Yeah, Abraham LIncoln after one term in the House should NEVER
have run. Adlai should never have run. And how about Dean? He was guv of a state smaller than any medium size city. Vermont. I mean what kind of fucking experience is that?

You may not be, but I'm enjoying YOUR sour grapes.

8. Surely you must be kidding to compare Obama to Bush in intelligence.
Obama is a brilliant man and I don't think that's in dispute. Brilliant people surround themselves with the same so it's unlikely any lack of experience will be a factor. Additionally, I think it's beneficial to have "fresh eyes" every so often and this is one of those times.

16. if only you knew how much i disagree with your opinion about me and about b.o.
i do remember that socrates paid for his life with hemlock for having a clear vision and a true vision.

i remember too that jonathan livingston seagull was ousted by the seagull pack for having a different vision.

i remember too that the little prince was well ... an outsider for having a different vision ...

and not to mention the jesus christ that obama purports to follow ...

taking all of that into consideration,

i think i am in good company.

11. I am not an Obama supporter but please,
experience? GWB was governor of TX. His father was VP and served in Congress and was head of the CIA. You can have a lot of "experience" and be dumb as a sack of bricks. With others like Ford, Carter, Reagan we learned the hard way.

14. Well, on the Dem side, everyone with "experience" has already dropped out
Clinton is a one-term Senator. Technically Obama has more relevant experience than she does. Her line about "35 years" has been debunked repeatedly.

Meanwhile Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Bill Richardson and Dennis Kucinich (the guys with actual meaningful experience) have all gone home.

15. Thomas Jefferson was in his early 30's, MLK was in his mid-30s
JFK was the youngest president ever.

I think the dumbing down of America is coming from the campaign who thinks that qualifications for president arise from being married to someone who already was.

18. the mediawhores in 2000 convinced the 65 iq people that bush
did not have to be the smartest person in the room and he was so likable. Compared to gore, bush was a man with an iq below 65 and gore was not only the smartest but one with more qualications for the position as president and he was the one with EXPERIENCE. Now we see what electing someone less experienced and qualifed will lead too.....I know in the back of your mind you are saying am i writing this about Obama? You damn skippy I am.

Obama can give one hell of a speech but does anyone know anything else? NO! Oh hell yeah, we all are supposed to believe since he has it posted on his web site his positions on issues we are to just believe it and take his word for it...HELL NO! anyone that does that should not be allowed near a damn voting booth. Has anyone really heard obama discuss his positions to the length that other candidates have i e hrc and edwards? No, obama cannot discuss his positions because I am under the strong impression he would fall in line with bush and be seen for the empty suit he really his....

Obama can give one hell of a speech and make folks get "goose bumps" when he hits the right speech inflection, that is common with tv preachers too and force people to open their wallets and give, give.....and when they leave the building or tent all they know is they are with less money.

This is what you obama folks are asking us that do not support him to do, switch candidates. Why would we switch when we know that both hrc and edwards are more qualified and EXPERIENCED more so then obama. i cannot support a candidate that his only passion seems to be in his speechmaking wheras hrc and edwards passions are in their postions that both explain....
