Playing the 'Faith Card'
No, not in the Primaries.

Here's a scenario: Mittenz wins the GOP nomination, and Obama wins for the Dems. Romney is one candidate who can't boast about his foreign policy experience. His economic platform is unashameably big business. Romney's skills in business are equally offset by his skills in sacking workers, as his Republican rivals are keen to point out.

Redux - Obama can match Romney on Foreign Policy. Americans are tired of reckless unilateralism;
Obamas wins on economic policy, trickle down is a failed 'experiment';
Barack can win big on a vision of purpose and optimism for the United States

But ... should he play the faith card?
Obama is the most forwardly Christian of all the candidates;
A hint here, a remark there is all it would take.

After all the DU controversy of race and gender,
Romney is very vulnerable with the evangelical base.
If the vote is tight, would he do it?

2. He does it all of the time....it's natural for him.
IN his speech tonight he spoke of the woman who sent him $3.01 and a scripture.

I don't think he would make that a strategy, no. Obama believes he can run on his own merits. He's not into the Politics of destruction and division. Remember?

4. I agree. But the media loves these cards.
If 2008 is remembered as partly a Christian v Mormon election, my concern is it will detract from the stature of Obama's win.

Unlike the Clinton v Obama mud, I hope there isn't a viral campaign about faith and funny underwear. And it may well come from hard line evangelicals.

I take your point about the politics of personal destruction. Obama won't be playing a card on this.

3. He shouldn't, but based on what he has done he wouldn't hesitate to

Whether he has played the race card is debatable but what cannot be disputed is he played the gay card. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dUp16hFzY8

5. Dems won't need to play the faith card
I hope Romney wins, because any of our Democratic candidates could chew him up and spit him out.

One reason I'm cool towards Obama is that he does bring up faith, again and again. Both Clinton and Edwards are religious people, but they don't flaunt it constantly.
