| Well, it's pretty much undeniable: there's a coordinated smear campaign going on here at DU. |
|
The number of people posting the same smears over and over, the closeness of the talking points, the continuous crying victim and blaming the other side for what you yourself are doing, and last but not least the absolute viciousness and unwillingness to allow anything approaching a civilized conversation to occur... everything seems to point to the idea that a certain group of people here have taken it on themselves to do everything they can to smear our other candidates--both, though one much more so--attack and enrage supporters, and generally try to make this place over into some kind of freeperish echo chamber for their candidate.
Personally, I'm getting kind of peeved. I understand that the admins of DU don't want to seem like they're taking sides in a primary battle, but these people are literally doing nothing but posting flamebait and personal attacks, very contrary to the rules. I have to wonder how many people are contemplating leaving DU to get away from the mudslinging, as I am.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: no supporters of any other candidate are nearly as vicious, as defamatory, and as obnoxious as the ones coming out of the Clinton campaign, and I think it reflects on the level of dirty trickery coming out of the campaign itself. Nobody in 2004 got this nasty either, not even the most obnoxious of the Dean supporters.
No matter how much you believe in your candidate, it's wrong to be using these Republican-style dirty tricks and attacks. It just is. If it were Republicans saying these things everyone here would be ready to string them up.

Some of the flamebaiters you refer to are utterly unable to say anything positive about their own candidate.

vicious, been defamatory, and obnoxious.....It just might be that us hrc supporters are telling you obma folks the damn truth about this man and you cannot see it but we do and the country is finally realizing it too and getting hisself caught telling lies about single payer and lying about reagan and the tapes say different.
It’s starting to look like a pattern. Obama says something deliberately provocative, then complains about being misrepresented or double-teamed. In basketball, to continue a metaphor Obama would certainly recognize, it’s called “working the refs.” Players do it when they’re losing.

I don't think any of it's fair. There are obnoxious posters in every camp, and I don't think you can say that any one is worse than the others.
This post of yours does seem kind of inflammatory though.
And yes, 2004 did get nasty, to the point of mass tombstonings, which I haven't seen happen yet this time around.

I am not very impressed with the more obnoxious hornblowers from that camp at all. can't figure how that kind of dialogue is to change anyones mind - in fact I'm sure it does the exact opposite.
I wasn't a big Hillary for pres fan by any means, but would definitely never support her if this is the kind of crowd and guttural mental gymnastics she attracts.
Of course, not everyone is like that, just to be clear, - lots of nice clinton people here, but the ones who seem to have a certain agenda to stir up the shit pot and just make shit up from thin air or defend the crap that Hillary has endorsed and supported over the years that are much more republican than democratic is like falling down a rabbit hole or something.)
To think I once admired that couple - now I see them as icky and deceitful and just f***ing full of themselves and their self percieved entitlements. They disgust me now - never as much as the *, but a too close for comfort second.
