35. You're just not used to anything other than
your knee-jerk opinions and rationalizations, so prevalent in the Obama Camp.

JRE is capable enough of impressing whatever audience he faces. He was terrific last night on Letterman. I applaud his people who know that the only way around the M$M, is to go the entertainment route. Why not? He has a good message.

Which is more than I can say for his competition.

39. I was referring to the poster saying "What, he can't go on an African-American's TV show?" That's
playing the race card, and it's inappropriate. The fact that he quietly changed it suggests he agrees.

45. No, it means that I respected your opinion, but it doesn't mean I agree.
It is not playing the race card. Obama and Clinton have both been on the show. What reason could the OP have for Edwards not being allowed on the show, but Obama and Clinton are ok? That is why I asked the question of the OP if that is what the OP meant.

7. I think it's cool!
I think it's awesome when any candidate puts themselves out there--for more
people to hear their views.

Going on a talk show is a gutsy move. It's more genuine than spewing talking
points from a podium, at an orchestrated press conference.

Kudos to John Edwards. He's an affable, genuine guy and he will play well on
this show. It's also strategic for him to appeal to women.

(I'm an Obama supporter, btw). How can you not love John Edwards?

:)

23. Not only that --
Tyra is on the board of the Yéle Haiti Foundation.

http://www.yele.org/

She does an awful lot of incredible charity work for progressive causes, and has been a strong and positive voice for LGBT causes.

I'm a very big fan of Tyra Banks YMMV

29. Oops...
I did not know this about her. Good for her and I'll look at her a bit differently from now on. Still don't like her show but I am home today and I did find her show as I was cable surfing. She had fitness people on and was talking about weight loss and exercise, so I stopped and watched a bit. Actually, pretty good info and since I am now, as of this morning, 20 lbs lighter (with a "bit" more to go), I enjoyed the segment I watched. Maybe some of us are guilty of thinking we are too "sophisticated" to watch these shows. Well, I will give Tyra her due but you can't make me watch Judge Judy!

15. I like Tyra
She's had some really interesting shows. Her This is Me campaign, or whatever it's called, is all about empowering women.

Plus, I'd think she'd have a younger demographic than some of the other talk shows. Good for Edwards, I hope he does well.

But I've seen her cover some interesting topics on her talk show. I used to watch all the time, back when I worked evenings (I'd watch before work) and didn't have cable. :)

If she can get younger people interested in any of the candidates and out there to vote, more power to her.

42. Re: The Model Show - They Make Those Girls Do Some
pretty challenging stuff in regards to modeling. And take the girls to places all over the world - I like when they are sent out on what's called "go/sees" in places like Bangkok, Tokyo, Beijing, and other non English speaking places with out any help, except the addresses.

She picks girls who could be plus-size models, and many minority girls.

She's funny as hell too! Oh and quite the photographer.

I like the Tyra show. She does cover some interesting topics. Now that I'm working during the day I don't watch it much, but I used to almost every day. Yeah, she does silly shows about makeovers and such, but also very interesting topics on race and empowerment of women. I give her a

he's probably there because Hillary and Obama have been there. I have a friend who was home sick both days that Obama and Hillary were on this show. This was her only exposure to the candidates, she will watch CNN for a bit or if there is a true Breaking News story but no other news. She really liked Obama but as an Edwards supporter, I asked her to find out more about him before she made up her mind. I suppose that even though we may question why candidates do certain appearances, it may be that this is their only chance to reach certain groups of people. That is really a sad statement on our citizens that Tyra Banks has a role to play in electing a candidate. Gives me shivers.

Edit:
Please see my post above...I didn't know a lot about Tyra until this thread and having only watched her show briefly, I had no idea of her quest to empower young women or that she supports Progressive causes. Guess this is a lesson that I should find out what I am talking about before I post. I had only seen her in the super model show having been forced to watch it with a group of girlfriends. I found that show very superficial so I tagged Tyra that way as well. Foolish me.
