Poll question: Will you stay in DU if your candidate loses?
I have pledged I will stay no matter what happens with Obama's candidacy. I love this place. Will you stay if your candidate loses?

15. I'm not so sure about that.
The next president is going to have to handle a bucking bronco of an economy. I don't think that either Hillary or Obama are up to it. We need fundamental restructuring of the economy to save the environment and prevent widespread misery. Only Edwards is up to the task. None of the Republicans are up to it, but I'd rather see a Republican fail in handling it than see a Democrat fail in handling it.

3. If I leave it won't be because my candidate lost. My candidate is whoever the Democratic
party puts forth.

I would very gladly vote for Hillary or Edwards.

I can plug my nose and vote for Obama.

8. I don't really want to repeat the exact same things again. I will just say this:
when I first saw Obama speak I - literally - said out loud "He's going to be the President."

I was right there.

He has since completely lost me with his treatment of the gay community. And unless he changes that in a big way he will NEVER get me back.

If he's the candidate - which is highly possible - I will vote for him, and I will support his candidacy to whatever degree I can tolerate.

I'll set aside my issues with him and vote for him, because it is the practical thing to do. But if you think I will vote for him gladly short of a MAJOR turnaround on where he's gone wrong, you seriously don't understandthe depth of the problem.

9. I'm confident he, as president, will impress you
and the gay community in general. I have faith in what this man can do as president.

12. I'm confident that you don't appreciate the feelings of the gay community on this matter.
You'll get my vote and most of the gay community too if it comes to that. Please be content with that and spare us the patronizing faith.

16. Mondo, I do appreciate and RESPECT your feelings
and the feelings of other gay DUers on Obama. I understand your dissapointment with Obama and it's completely valid. I do. I'm just confident that my candidate will defend the rights of all Americans if elected. There is nothing patronizing about that.

28. CAREFUL.
Certain posters (maybe present company on this thread excepted) will not tolerate any opposition to the true faith, and have made it clear they will alert people in opposition as racist (not you ,______. You and I talked, and we understand each other. I got a lot more of that after our conversation).

Too many wonderful things, and too many wonderful friends have come to me since I joined...

I will be here till they pry my keyboard from my cold, dead hands!

10. we can start to think of the senate
Next year will be the election for the 2nd Class of Senators and it brings forth a perfect storm for Democrats.

Of the 33 Senators up for election 21 are Republicans and 12 are Democrats.
http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/reference...

Of the democrats all but one is in a seat that is considered either very strong or strong and should run with little or no opposition and that is Landrieu in LA.

Of the republicans 9 seats are considered contestable. This does not include wild card seats like Craig ID, or Trent MS in which the republicans will have no incumbent.

4 Seats are vacated by retiring Allard CO, Domenici NM, Hagel NE, Warner VA.

4 Seats are held by republicans in democratic states; Coleman MN, Smith OR, Sununu NH, Collins ME

1 Seat is occupied by a republican currently being investigated by the FBI and could be taken if a good candidate runs
Stevens AL.

The Democratic Senate Campaign has been outraising the republicans by a 10-1 ratio.

It is easier for the Democrats to recruit good candidates because 1) Likely presidential coattails, 2)Higher interest in working in the majority party.

And finally we have the 'Macaca' factor. The rest of the republican candidates will say something stupid and Dean's strategy of having a good candidate in every contest will provide some surprises

17. My candidate has no chance ; then my
interests turn to the Congress. Already, the whole thing seems like a lot of ankle biting and no substance. Plus their backgrounds tell us they are full of it. Our interests turn to a couple Congressional races and the senate races in New Mexico and Maine. The presidential candidates are in tune with the monied interests. All they need are our votes and that is all they are going to get.

I've been here through a Dean and then Kerry loss and through big wins like 2006 along the way. I'm here for the long haul.

It has been pointed out to me by several posters that to oppose a certain candidate is RACIST.

How about it? If you win, can we stay?

27. I may not stay if YOUR candidate wins or I will just have to keep
my opinion of him to myself and/or just lurk and read because I am sure it will be against the rules. I managed to behave when Kerry (:puke:) was the nominee in 2004 somehow.
