1. Dave should've given John the opportunity to expound on why people should vote for him instead of Barack or Hillary. It's rude to have a presidential candidate on your talk show, and spend most of the time asking him about the other candidates. Jokes are fine, but candidates need that little bit of serious time, too, and I didn't feel like John got it.
2. Edwards called what happened at the debate "petty bickering". I disagree. Petty bickering is when you are arguing about petty things, like which episode of Seinfeld was the best one, or who left the cap off the toothpaste. When someone attacks your integrity, that's not petty, it's meaningful. It's important. The person saying it is either correct, ignorant, or a scheming liar, and getting to the bottom of which one of those applies tells you more about who you're electing than their policy positions ever will.
3. To me, Edwards seemed a little forlorn. I imagine it's hard not to be, but he didn't have the kind of oblivious enthusiasm that I associate with, say, Kucinich. In some ways, I wish we could forbid all polling in the year before an election, just because I would like to be able to think that everyone has an equal chance in every state. (Yes, I know this is impossible, it's just a little dream of mine.)
4. Edwards should've gotten to deliver a Top Ten list themed around his campaign. That would've been better than the one we got.
Thus ends my rambling Letterman rant. :)
