| 1. Question - Is Subprime mortgage crisis a racial issue? |
I did hear it disproportionately hit women; it would not surprise me if minorities were targeted too
| 94. No, it's not a racial issue per se.... |
...however, since non-whites statistically have lower incomes, they make up a larger percentage of subprime loans.
| 183. Yes, it is, blacks and latinos were targetted, blacks more... check out |
www.naca.com One aspect was that AA's were given higher finance charges than white people who had worse credit, just one part of it. So much more involved in it though.
| 2. John Edwards: "Barack and I" - several times. |
I think he might be providing a glimpse into the delegate future.
| 7. If edwards drops, his votes will go to Obama, at least for the most part. |
| Yeah. Look how his Barack and I business worked in NH. I don't think |
it's by mistake. Divide and conquer.
Maybe. Any other scenario would be ludicrous.
| More likely, that his delegates would go to Obama should he drop out. |
| Hmmmm!!!! I wouldn't object to Obama/Edwards.... nt |
| 6. Yeah... it's a very... brutal debate. |
| 29. I don't like conflict!! |
Seriously... This makes me nervous!!
| 16. This is VERY animated tonight! |
Clinton and Obama just can't get along.
Edwards father worked in a mill? I didn't know that. I wonder what else I don't know about the candidates, like what was Giuliani was doing on 9/11?
| 17. you "work for workers"? even mill workers? |
| 34. No. They joined Change to Win. |
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 07:40 PM by I work for workers
I work for the AFL-CIO.
| 8. Can you feel the love tonight?? |
Wal-Mart, Rezco. I'm basking in the warmth of the candidates!!!
| 15. Another mis-characterization by Clinton |
Obama bought land from Rezko; not represented him.
| 11. NOW you have my attention! |
| 12. Sorry I was late to the party |
| 13. Edwards is looking GREAT |
Given that many people are just STARTING to pay attention, they may well take a second, third, fourth, fifth look at Edwards.
Beauty.
| 21. He's the adult in the debate |
and in the race. He's connecting with the audience.
| 50. yea, don't cast aside John yet, he is in to stay. |
just imagine if we have to keep hearing this squabbling between Barack and Hillary, at least John brings everyone back to reason.
He came into this in a great position, as a "third wheel," but the way he's using it is quite brilliant.
| 135. Tis' true. Edwards can call out either candidate when needed. |

both Hillary and Barack look confrontational and mean spirited

| 22. Barack uming and awing, Hillary YELLING. Damn. |
| 23. The back and forth sniping has really loosened them up, plus the audience |

is getting them going. The candidates are far less stilted than at the beginning.

| Obama voted 130 times "present" |

I'm glad this is coming out

about votes when will she take it for IRAQ

Welcome to the Thunderdome debate.

| 95. I think Hillary is going to fucking kill Obama by the end of this debate |

It's the same way John Kerry rattled Smirky McChimpster in the first presidential debate in 2004.
Ironically, the legend is that Bill Clinton himself advised Kerry that Bush is shrill when knocked off his perch.

this is not the Obama/Hillary debate. Sickening. All this talk from Obama, let's get with it.

| 147. Actually, you're buying a ridiculous spin job. nt |
| 162. So you don't understand how the "present" vote works in the Illinois legislature either? |
Many times, voting present for a bill is due to trying to amend a bill that usually has a posion pill within it. Does a senator vote for a bill concerning educational funding when someone puts in an amendment making abortion illegal? Um...no! They vote "present" and take the cancer out of the bill and THEN pass it.
Get it?
