The Democratic base is probably the most abused stepchild

in the political arena.
Unlike the republican fundie base that are CONTINUALLY pandered to...our Democratic candidates know we are loyal.
They take our votes for granted. They know we will NOT cross over and vote for the republican. They KNOW we will swallow our pride and our bile and vote for them if they are the candidate.
In fact, some of our candidates attempt to distance themselves from us. Calling us the left fringe. But make no mistake...they are COUNTING on our votes and expect us to "know" that they only said those things to serve the greater good. To win elections. They didn't mean them. Really they didn't. ;)
It would be a SHAME if that ceased to happen. It would be a SHAME if some of the most LOYAL participants in the political process were allowed to become disenfranchised.
Hey candidates, don't look now. It might just be happening before your eyes.
So before you invoke things in your speechifying that you KNOW will upset the base...you might be surprised one day to realize that you just went a little too far.
It IS possible to give speeches that appeal to everyone...not just to the right wing whackos you are courting.
Give it a thought candidates...and quit taking your base for granted because I am here to tell you...you have pushed us to the edge and whether we decide to stay on board or jump is pretty much anyone's guess at this point.
