I'm Glad that Kucinich is in the Debate.
Cause that's how it should be.

Dennis is a lean but mean fighting machine! GO Dennis! :patriot:

2. a lot of people are running
21 of them, in fact.

Would you find a debate with 21 people useful?

4. It would be fascinating to see your reaction
should HRC be invited then disinvited from a debate.

24. The facts, as they exist, and aren't being disputed
are that Dennis had met the criteria for the debate. NBC News had issued an invitation (and if I've read right, had Dennis in on planning meetings).

Here's the tough one for you! NBC changed the criteria (the line is they were expecting Richardson and were going to be happy to have him, unfortunately....). They uninvited Dennis.

These are the facts to the situation.

And if you thought that the question was an insult, get aquainted with brine.

Go Dennis! :woohoo:

10. Kucinich's ideas are different than the other major candidates
And in polls, Americans have stated they are interested in what Dennis is offering, such as

universal health insurance from non-profit insurance companies (61% said they wanted this in a recent survey, for example)
getting out of Iraq now
disavowing NAFTA and getting out of the WTO
concrete plans for green jobs creation here in the US
making sure Bush and Cheney are brought to justice

Now, maybe you don't want any of these things to happen. That's fine. But since many do, I think it important that these ideas be presented in a public forum.

13. Yes, I think there should be full-spectrum debate, and the war profiteering
corporate news monopolies should be required to cover it at length.

These are our PUBLIC airwaves. We permit these corporations to use them, through a licensing procedure. A condition of the license should be to provide significant air time for full debate of the issues, including every person who qualifies for a place on any state ballot. For presidential debates--a position that includes power over all life on earth, and that, according to Bush anyway, includes the power to slaughter a million innocent people to get their oil, with impunity--the coverage should be especially scrupulous to be all-inclusive, and should be as long as necessary to fully cover all issues at least to the candidates' satisfaction, with perhaps some kind of audience panel to decide if it should continue.

You, on the other hand, are not thinking creatively or democratically. You are accepting corporate rules for who gets to be a candidate (i.e., who gets air time), and for narrow debate on a political spectrum of their choosing (very narrow, skewed way to the right), during very short segments in which the questions are screened (censored). And, within those narrow confines, you agree that this one or that one should be eliminated, by the decision of corporations. Thus, alternative views are eliminated, and alternative candidates, who often start off with little money, can never gain traction. Money becomes the sole arbiter of who gets heard, rather than quality of ideas--a system that is quite happy-making for the super-rich, and devastating for the rest of us.

I repeat: These are our public airwaves. We, the people, OWN them. We can require anything we want and need, for the public good, from the entities we choose to license, if we would only take back our inherent power, as a sovereign people, from those who have usurped it. Personally, I think all other broadcasting should be suspended six weeks before major federal elections, so that there is full and detailed discussion throughout the land of every proposal and every candidate. Nothing is more important than an informed, involved citizenry, and meaningful (and verifiable) elections.

18. If they can get an audience fired up like DK can, then sure.
I doubt that's the case, though.

8. He will bring up issues and plans that none of the other candidates will
Yeah, yeah, I've heard all the garbage about "he's low in the polls" and the belittling adjectives and stories about aliens that some here at DU think are funny. But no matter what you think about the man, how can any progressive here be against

1. Getting out of Iraq
2. Getting out of NAFTA and WTO
3. Bringing jobs - green jobs - back to the USA
4. Universal health care NOT based on for-profit insurance companies
5. Bringing Bush and Cheney to justice

All the Kucinich bashers, next time you're ready to type in some cutesy remark, think about this; by belittling the man, you are also belittling his issues. Which makes me wonder if maybe you don't want the things I listed.

11. Dennis Will Shill mand Go After Edwards Rather Than Hillary, He Will Be A Distraction
and will serve no useful purpose except to protect the STATUS QUO! I wish it were different but I expect nothing of substance to be added. Dennis will turn it into a circus!

This was to be the first useful debate to really expose the true nature of the "front runners" and Dennis IS GOING TO FUCK IT UP! :wtf:

:puke:

12. In all the debates he's been in,
Dennis has exposed the true nature of the front runners. I don't see him changing his course. And his ideas are ones that need to be heard.

...that was when he pushed the front-runners to the wall.
