Clinton/Obama call for Ceasefire... Can we do the same?
I'm not gonna go partisan at all with this... Promise.

I just read... well a little while ago, that the Clinton & Obama camps have finally come to their senses and called a truce. They realize this is all getting out of hand, and don't want us to rip our party apart anymore.

Think we could do the same?

1. PRAISE JESUS!! First thing I saw on Yahoo this am
Wise up folks, the campaigns did.

Democratic presidential rivals Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama stepped back from a controversy over race Monday night, agreeing that a prolonged clash over civil rights could harm their party's overall drive to win the White House.

13. So it's only on matters of "race card"? Right?
Can I keep bashing Hillary for acting like Karl Rove re Nevada Union voter suppression?

17. Well, with these things, the candidate in NEVER
directly involved. Like Henry II with Thomas Beckett. You can be sure that Hillary doesn't have her fingerprints on this. However, it was filed by her supporters, and the law firm they selected has long ties to the Clintons. And it benefits Hillary. And it was filed two days after the Culinary Union (which this lawsuit hopes to disenfranchise) endorsed Obama instead of Clinton...

so yeah, I'd say she is behind it.

As for what she has to say about it... apparently she says that the "courts must settle this" blah blah blah. Kinda what Bush would say about Scooter when he was on trial.

It stinks.

No Democrat should ever be in favor of suppressing the vote. Even if the vote would be against us.

12. This article??
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/01/obama-damps-dow.html

but probably not this one:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/12/obama-camps-memo-on-clin_n_81205.html

and not this one:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/15/kerry-blasts-clinton-camp_n_81518.html

Anyway, if a truce was called, I'm pretty sure its only over the racial stuff
(MLK v LBJ, "Shuck and Jive", "fairy tale", etc, etc), not on other issues.

5. They called for a true and then sent high-profile surrogates to make aggressive attacks on the other
One sent Kerry, his highest profile surrogate, and the other used Rangel. They want to continue the attacks but get credit right before the Nevada vote for calling a "truce."

9. If you believe Obama spontaneously declared it today and Kerry wasn't in the loop
They must have discussed it at least yesterday before deciding to announce it today. Did Kerry, like Rangel, miss the memo? I don't think so.

Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 04:02 AM by mrdemocrat78
I read the Kerry interview, and he didn't bash clinton like I keep hearing. In fact, he said that they are pretty much the same on the issues; it's about who he thinks will be a better uniter.

Stop trying to muddy the waters. The announcement was made until late tonight, so just knock it off. You're not going to bait me into this.

16. Yeah, let's save our energy for the general election.
We are so going to need it. The Repugs are going to throw every last piece of shit at us and unity will definitely help us shield against it.

21. If Ripping Apart Means Exposing The Facts About each Candidate, Then By All Means, RIP AWAY!
Anyone who thinks Democrats are going to win in November by hiding the skeletons ... in the primary... is a MORON. The Republicans are mustering all their resources to keep the skeletons on Hillary and Obama .. LOCKED IN THE CLOSET until after this thing is decided. I want TRANSPARENCY AND CLARITY...

THEN MAY THE TRULY BEST CANDIDATE PREVAIL...

Clearly the empirical evidence on defeating ANY Republican nominee rests w/ John Edwards! :kick:
