"...if anyone's in doubt: yes, Edwards is pissing off the right people." -- grannyhelen

As the primary process continues, amidst the daily barrage of broadsides fired from one campaign onto another, it's worth remembering that John Edwards is still talking about real issues.

John Edwards' campaign isn't about him. It's about us. It's about taking back power from the wealthy elites who want to run this country and putting it in our hands. It's about finally taking on the corporations that dominate more and more of the American economy. It's about challenging the system.

And it's pissing off the all right people.

JedReport's diary :: ::
Let's start with Rupert Murdoch....cont'd

12. I always feel confident in his debate performance
That brilliant brain and those sharp trial attorney skills mean he never screws up. You'll seldom catch him losing his cool or letting a facial expression interfere with his presentation.

3. Yes, he's been talking about them for MONTHS now.
It is crazy that he has been the leader on so many things in this campaign and is being virtually ignored.

I'm just grateful Edwards is telling the truth. He's the only one doing so.

4. Even if Edwards doesn't get the nomination....
I think he is determined to stay with it right to the very end, so he can continue to talk about what is wrong and what needs to be changed, to push the real issues in front of the smoke and mirrors the others have thrown up.

13. I listened to Hillary a couple of times in the past week
I don't see how you can truthfully accuse her of not talking about the issues. She does. Plus she answers any and all questions asked. No holds barred. She's good because she has been around and has the answers.

17. I agree that she does talk about the issues. However, I'm not
convinced that she is going to dedicate herself to taking the steps needed to bring about real change in the government as it relates to big business. She seems to close to them.

I get the same feeling about Obama. He's a good guy, makes a great speech, means well but I fear that he won't be tough enough to get things done.

Edwards sounds determined to make change happen. That's why I hope he wins the nomination.

20. She's not talking about the reasons the middle class has become so impoverished....
.... she's not mentioning the two Americas, the class system, the necessity of impeaching these pigs in the White House (after all they did to her and her husband, that's pretty damned amazing!), she's just being upbeat and glossing over everything. I want her to mention the disaster that the pigs made of this country, and explain how she is going to reverse everything they did.

But she won't do that.

15. If he doesnt get the nomination, Id like to talk him into going Independent

Then we could all vote for him

but even so, If he doesnt have the nomination, after the primaries, I'm switching to independent and then I'll write his name in for the election.

I also hope he'd switch to independent before Blumberg , pro business Blumberg jumps into independent.

I cant imagin this country getting any more pro business...essentially business has picked us dry of our money, our jobs, our factories, our homes and is leaving the corpse to rot.

Thanks for the loyalty big business.

11. JE exposed
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 08:03 PM by ngant17
I just wish JE would piss off the MIC as in Military-Industrial Complex, of which his state of NC is saturated with. NC is the Mercenary Capital of the world (i.e., Blackwater), it has Special Forces/Army/Marine bases galore, it also has historically been one of the worst anti-union, right-to-work(for less) states in the USA. So just who is buttering his bread anyway?

JE won't do anything to piss-off the MIC, he is the refined and debonair war-monger (he'll have none of those cheap butch haircuts the jarheads prefer), he's the male version of a Hillary but much worse because I believe he will become more of a 'people's fascist' like Mussolini when he gets in power, at least Hillary is a war-monger serving a pro-union state. Obama is the only Dem I can trust right now.

I hope JE keeps getting low-balled in the primaries because I'd sure have a hard time voting for him in the GE.

14. Here's Edwards on defense spending

Coveted endorsement – representing 10,000 Iowa caucus goers – adds to Edwards' growing momentum in Iowa

Des Moines, Iowa – Today, Senator John Edwards accepted the endorsement of Caucus for Priorities, a project of the Priorities Action Fund, a 10,000-member strong grassroots organization dedicated to educating the public about the inequities of our current federal budget. The organization, launched by Ben & Jerry's co-founder Ben Cohen, praised Edwards for his plans to root out wasteful Pentagon spending while investing in priorities like universal health care and education.

The endorsement gives Edwards another important boost heading into the Iowa Democratic Party's Jefferson Jackson Dinner.

"Caucus for Priorities proudly endorses John Edwards for president," said Priorities Action Fund Founder Ben Cohen. "For months, our members have attended his town hall meetings across Iowa and found him to be a leader who listens – and always gives the straight answers Americans deserve from their president. As Commander-in-Chief, he'll do whatever it takes to keep us safe – but he'll also make sure Americans have health care, strong schools, and the opportunity to get ahead. He'll eliminate billions in wasteful Pentagon spending, and put our budget back in line with our values."

"Caucus for Priorities does such important work bringing awareness to the issue of waste in our military budget and the backward budget priorities in Washington that so often leave the interests of regular families behind," Edwards said. "I am honored to accept this endorsement today, and determined to be a voice for all those who believe we can defend our country without continuing to neglect the needs of our citizens.

"The question is: will we continue to give multi-billion dollar contracts to Halliburton and Blackwater while ignoring the 47 million Americans who have no health care coverage, or the 37 million Americans who live in poverty? I believe we need to fundamentally change the broken system and backward priorities of Washington. As president, I'll end the war, stop the waste and abuse, and invest in our most important priorities."

22. John Edwards, The Prince?
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 09:18 PM by ngant17
OK I'm a poor 'dail-up' voter so the youtube video links are a waste of my bandwidth, but thanks for the effort anyway. RAM RealAudio clips would be okay, I guess.

Hey, all I'm asking is for JE to be consistent. I'm sure he's gong to be against the bloated defense budget because he needs this image to get elected. And being from a peace-challenged state like NC isn't necessarily an evil, Jimmy Carter was from Georgia and it also is saturated with Army and Special Forces bases. But good ole JC was (and always is) a peace candidate, and he didn't have to apologize for anything like this! Besides that, JE didn't apologize for the IWR until 3 years later, after he decided it would be politically expedient to do so. A lesson that must be straight out of Machiavelli's "The Prince".

All apologies aside, JE didn't just vote for IWR, the friggen
war-monger co-sponsored the whole damn thing, and then defended it for months after the invasion! Sorry, I could be wrong, but I smell a Mussolini all over this guy if he's elected.

I've read that in the California Democratic Party convention in early 2003, when Dean exploded onto the political scene, Edwards was booed for announcing his support for the war just a couple days before bombs started dropping: "...but then Edwards spoke in support of the Iraq war and all hell broke loose. The entire convention hall resonated in boos, the crowd chanting “no war! No war!” It was an amazing sight, and Edwards seemed a bit taken aback. Jerome thought it looked like ‘68. Edwards recovered with a line about Ashcroft, but the damage was done. The 20 or so brave souls waving Edwards signs were suddenly radioactive."

reference at http://jre-whatsnottolike.com/

I bet JE drops out before the California primary just to spare himself an embarrassment again!

Here's a quote JE might even like as our next 'post-911 terror' president:

"It is best to be both feared and loved; however, if one cannot be both it is better to be feared than loved." Niccolò Machiavelli, "The Prince (1513)"

I have not seen ONE issue he actually stands for. He is all about, "hope" for change, but hell anything but GWB will lift all Americans. One can't live on that glory forever!
Is he planning on looking into the no-bid contracts of Halliburton? Blackwater? Is he going to look into the "Big Boys of Oil". I understand he didn't vote for the war, he sure has done a hell of a job perpetuating it! What about an energy plan? Is he for nuclear plants, if so what does he want to do with the nuclear waste? Is he for a national healthcare plan, will it cover everyone, medications and preventive care, emergency care....all people? Is he going to bail out the housing crisis? Unemployment rise? How? Education what is his friggin plan. WHY ATTACK EVERY SINGLE JRE THREAD......and add nothing of substance pro-your candidate!!????

32. and you need to pay closer attention to Obama
There are a lot of "little" differences between what he inspires you to hope and believe and those pesky details. You know, against the war from the beginning, but repeatedly votes the funds to continue it; if elected, will immediately begin removing troops and combat troops, but special forces might not be considered "combat"; universal health care, but the universe might not include millions of Americans.

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT. THEY ADMIT she's been bought. And Edwards cannot be -- and THAT is why they HATE him.

They can't CONTROL him with money - that's why.
