Poll question: Will the attempt to Swiftboat Hillary Clinton on Race be successful?
Will the Obama attempt to Swiftboat Clinton on Race be successful?

Kerry was strongest on his support of our military and his Vietnam record of heroism during - and after - his service. Karl Rove and his surrogates chose to attack him where he was strongest, and were successful.
One of the strongest aspects of the Clinton's record is the overwhelmingly positive relationship with the African American and other minority communities.

Poll question: Will Barack Obama be as successful in Swiftboating Hillary Clinton as Karl Rove was in Swiftboating John Kerry?

James Clyburn doesn't seem like an overly reactive person but if he is getting all upset then I think maybe the Clinton's are the ones shooting themselves in the foot.

Two important reasons.

1- Remember the "War Room" Clinton had against the VRWC?

2- Betty Currie (Bill) and Maggie Williams (Hillary)

If you want to take it further look up Bill's cabinet to see how many African-Americans, and women, held cabinet level positions.

11. Of course the *facts* are with her, but that didn't help Kerry.
A key to successful Swiftboating is to ignore "facts" and become outraged over twisted 'truths'.

Recall how Obamanation, with a straight face, insisted Joe Biden, a US Senator, was implying black people didn't take baths? Remember that? People are damn sick over this type of fake racial sensitivity. It cheapens the real struggle.

it implies that a vote against Obama is a vote for racism, which will backfire, whether it shows up in the polls or not.I guess you could make the same argument for the sexism charge in the Clinton campaign, except that an examination of some of the media comments towards her are more substantial than the racism charge.

Edited for mispelling.

on MTP when Hillary is on. If he doesn't show it little Timmy tips his hand (GE's) on the continued plan of temporary king making.

I am actually surprised that the Obama camp has not tried to get out in front of this - do some pre-damage control. On the other hand, the corporate media has ignored it to this point and maybe they have signaled to Obama that they will continue to protect him. Who knows.

41. Edwards' haircut, H. Clinton's tears, Obama's name.
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 11:20 AM by Sarah Ibarruri
Why are American elections so ridiculous? I think Americans should stop focusing on: Edwards' haircut, H. Clinton's tears, Obama's name. The elections in the U.S. are important to the richest and the poorest people because this is a nation of great wealth, a huge population, and a lot of military power, so it really baffles the hell out of me that the advisers of candidates focus on BULLSHIT like haircuts, names and tears. Isn't it time to F grow up? Is this a problem with the American character or what?

i want us to elect someone good this time, one who can rebuild our wrecked country, but if we elect another asshole, frankly, then america deserves what said asshole proceeds to do to our country.

50. I don't want a Republican to win, no way nohow.
However, we all have our opinions. I think H. Clinton has a history of being bashed, trashed, and destroyed easily by the Repukes. Bad candidate (not to mention that she's trying to be and please the right wing, and that doesn't sit well in my book).

Obama is a nice guy, but up to now, I don't hear him screaming out what he's going to do to help the poor, disabled, the old and sick, poor children, working poor out of a job, people who obviously have tried for the American Dream and found out the American Dream was only for the rich.

And that's why I'm for the ONLY PERSON in this race that is telling the truth: JOHN EDWARDS.

Whoever the people pick for Dem nominee, I'll vote for because more than anything I HATE REPUBLICANS WITH ALL MY HEART AND PASSION. However, not all Democratic candidates are alike. Not by a long long shot.

Kerry did not respond immediately and that was a huge mistake as he has admitted. The Clintons will not sit back and "hope" that the general public will see through the politics of personal destruction. They have been fighting those tactics from the right wing so they are well equipped to fight it from the left as well.

rican Americans. Last night on Keith Olbermann the African American columnist that frequents the show said that Hillary made a mistake by lecturing Blacks on Martin Luther King. However she spoke the truth. Johnson with the pressure of King and so many others in the entire U.S. not only in the South did the right thing. It takes a President to make such changes and it will take a Dem. president to resolve the illegal immigrant issue.

I'd rather vote for MLK over Hillary though. Maybe that's it.

70. I think we are throwing around the term swifboating far too liberally
Its like the way we use the word "hero" You see it thrown around so much these days that the word itself is cheapened. I don't see any swiftboating going on in this campaign YET. Wait till we have a nominee then we will see it for sure.

76. I think SC is much smarter than the Swiftboaters of Clinton think they are.
As charge after charge of racism is debunked, SC will see the pattern and reject it.

79. Hillary's comments about MLK tells me that she has little regard for activism
Wasn't it the activist and protesters throughout the late 60 that got us
out of Vietnam, or was it Nixon, Hillary?

82. What ?
Whats with the swift boating already ? That is a Republican
thing . It's done because Republicans have nothing to promote
them selves so they sling mud and lies ; And the sad part is
that Americans swallow it hook line and sinker. Every time
the fools have put a Republican in the WH and backed him up
with the congress and senate our country has been raped and
this time we may not recover.
