Why Edwards must go ASAP, Hurry Hurry
They don't want him ganging up on Clinton and Obama in another debate. It just wouldn't be fair. Now that Richardson Biden and Dodd are gone they have nobody to intercept flak and shield them. And lord have mercy if Kucinich gets in on one of damn debates. That would be like watching a pair of Rottweilers go off on a couple ShihTuzs. They are pulling strings on all their marionettes to try to sway this kabuki.
His got them soiling fruit of the looms and doing it on pocket change. No matter who you are, THAT IS IMPRESSIVE.

118. I went to the regular county Dem gathering this a.m. There were about 100 people.
Representatives from Clinton, Edwards, Obama, and Kucinich addressed the group briefly.

The Clinton person talked about how all of us know who Hillary is and what she cares about.
Kucinich's person said he's the only one who is really against the Occupation of Iraq.
Obama's speakers, 2 of them, spoke about nothing but their organization.
Edwards's speaker talked about specific issues and how much he wants to engage the struggle for real change.

It was exactly as I said; if the Edwards person hadn't been there, nothing much at all would have been said.

It seemed that my perception of Obama folks as power hounds was particularly validated.

The M$M will be forced to air his message. Once again Edwards will dominate the debate with the real issues, while the other two stare slack-jaw, just like the last one, and attempt to keep up. No Richardson to buffer, he will be a force to be reckoned with! The empty suits just can't keep up with him.:kick: :hide:

because why Hillary haters bashed her on DU and claimed she lost it. most people actually saw her in a positive way. she did well with that question about change and was able to make a case and get people to give her a 2nd look.

I see it that Edwards was not going after anybody, he was going after a point of view. The people that have no good retort have only the
claim of attack as safe harbor to retreat to.

37. No, he HURT Obama.
Hillary won NH because she received a huge sympathy vote from women after they felt that Edwards and Obama "double teamed" her in the debate (and after she choked up in the coffee shop). I love Edwards and he was my first choice, but it is very bad timing for him with Hillary and Obama in the race. Not many votes left over for him, and he can't win it. His resources are drying up fast. Now, unfortunately, he splits the "change" vote which hurts Obama. The others have seen the light and have stepped out. That day if FAST approaching for Edwards. There is no point in him hanging on only to suck "change" voters away from Obama.

and, John better watch, but I have a feeling the other two are going to do something to try and marginalize him (if the moderator doesn't anyhow!), perhaps they will both go after John, or they will both ignore him, not even say his name or something to try and get him to leave now - they want it down to the two of them and we're gonna see how bad, I feel, but I know John will stand up for his strong right to be heard from any future debate. He has a solid 20% of Democrats and Independents backing him and we are strongly behind him staying in there and staying on message. I will vote Democrat no matter what, but my goodness, the difference between an Edwards presidency and a Clinton one will be quite noticeable imho.

If Edwards drops out half of his support will go to Hillary. Edwards is the only reasons that Obama is still in this. Sooner or later Obama has to cut a deal with Edwards or become a footnote in history.

Also he can NEVER run again unless he becomes the VP. cause he won't be able to "young and fresh"

Did i mention that Edwards is the only one that can beat Mccain?

46. good plan
While an Obama or Clinton head of ticket will certainly cost us a great many legislative seats in the south, an Edwards/Obama ticket is a chance worth taking. Nobody really votes for the V.P. so any loss in the south will be manageable. The potential for high turnout in the rest of the country could bring us 60 Senate seats and gains in state legislatures. A real victory is on the horizon if only people have the sense to see it.

53. A very reasonable analysis
Edwards has the best shot at beating any Republican. How many crossover votes can Hillary or Obama get in the general election? With Edwards at the top of the ticket the possibilities for a larger majority are greatly expanded. Remember what country we're living in, and put all the political correct dreams aside. The name of the game is winning. McCain will beat Hillary or Obama, and that means at least four more years of an immoral drain on our treasury and our children's future through the disasters known as the Iraq occupation and the War on Terror or whatever other war they want to declare on a tactic or undefined objective.
Neither Hillary Clinton nor Barak Obama will deliver one more electoral vote than John Kerry did in 04. John Edwards has been providing the narrative for the Democratic campaign. The corporate media knows he's a threat to their strangle hold on how we receive news and information; hence the lack of coverage for the man who won't kiss corporate asses.
Your choice for our next president is either John Edwards or John McCain. Wrap up those fairy tales folks. Hope, faith and charity are no defense against the Republican slime machine and their hand maiden presstitutes in the corporate media.

John can beat McCain. Period. Not sure Hillary or Obama can. That was my take on it for the last year.

is spending a pittance compared to his big spending counterparts that lobbyist money has purchased. That alone speaks volumes.

Keep rocking that boat, John! We the people are behind you all the way!

This party is just getting started, and after two states they think they are going to call the shots? Hah!!! I don't think so, the people are weighing in on this and we say, EDWARDS ALL THE WAY!

:yourock:

44. If Edwards drops out now, we will lose the General Election.
Obama and Clinton will slaughter each other for the next 7 months with the possibility of having a brokered convention. If this happens, we will lose in November.

50. If the tables were flipped
and Obama was in Edwards position, I as an Obama supporter, would jump on the Edwards bandwagon. My heart would probably remain with Obama but my common sense would hopefully overrule. Edwards is finished and Hillary is within a couple of breaks of sewing up the nomination. This thing is not going to go all the way to the convention.....not even close.

Of what value is jumping on a bandwagon?

51. fact is, Edwards will NOT be the nominee
If he was in it for the country he would drop and support Hillary, who has the experience and fortitude to DO what Obama TALKS about. The longer Edwards stays in, the more he looks like Nader.

62. a little more serious than that
You talk about this very important election as though you were selecting a team in a football betting pool. Supporting a candidate involves more than just picking a winner.

Whether or not Edwards will be the nominee, there are some other things at stake.

- People should have the option of voting for Edwards in coming primaries so long as he is willing to stay in the race.

- Getting Edwards delegates into the convention is valuable and important.

- People have the right to hear an alternative message, and Edwards is providing that.

- It helps the party the longer the campaigns go on, because it gives many opportunities to get Democrats in front of the general public.

- Edwards is forcing the other candidates to talk about issues that they would avoid otherwise.

The "Nader" slam on Edwards is disgusting and deceptive and misleading. Shame on you for that.

The assumption that Edwards supporters are automatically in the pocket of either Obama or Clinton insults your fellow DUers, for no constructive purpose.

73. No way...........
Hillary may have the experience & fortitude, but NOT THE DESIRE! She is just a corporate shill! Have you looked at her voting record? What bills has she written and "WORKED ON " to get them passed, in her 5 years in the Senate? In order to achieve action in politics, you have to be very persuasive, win others over to your point of view, and pass legislation. THAT is leadership! THAT IS HOW YOU GET CHANGE!
Yes I realize that there are all those stubborn Repugs in the Senate, but she hasn't really tried! I've been watching closely, realizing that the Senate seat would lead to a Presidential bid.
If Edwards goes....we don't have an election! We have a MSM written menue: pick one from colum A or B. They've been slinging it at us for a year and now they ae deciding!
Don't you think it strange that ALL those crazy, crooked, Repugs are still hanging in the race? THEY'RE not dropping out. WHO IS SPONSORING THEM? AND WHY?
KUCINICH DRAFTED A BILL TO IMPEACH CHENEY. It hasn't been passed YET, because of the division in te house. but he TRIED because "it was the right thing o do!

Edwards could be in the lead in several states and we would never know it. The media may be trying to keep us from voting for the strongest candidate, so vote for Edwards no matter what.

Hell, even if he's not the nominee, I'm voting for him. I realize I have that luxury because I live in NY which will go Dem anyway. I'm voting on principle and will not support a corporatist like Hillary or a person who gives a homophobe a forum to spew as Obama did. But, let's just put this to rest...for all those who think the parties are the same, I don't see now, nor in the foreseeable future a woman or black man running as a Republican.

114. Johnny Edwards the Good
Johnny Edwards the Good
Apologies to Chuck Berry

Deep down South Carolina close to Clemson U.
Way back up in the woods among the textile mills
There stood a little house made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny Edwards the Good.
Who learned to read or write very well
And he could sue corporations just like a ringing a bell

Go go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Johnny Edwards the Good

His briefcase used to be a gunny sack
Go sit beneath the tree by the railroad track
Oh, the engineers would see him sitting in the shade
Reading with the rhythm that the drivers made
People passing by they would stop and say
That little Edwards boy will be famous some day

Go go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Johnny Edwards the Good

His mother told him "Someday you will be a man,
And you will be the leader of this big old land
Many people coming from miles around
To hear you make your speeches when the sun go down
Maybe someday your name will be in lights
Saying, “Johnny Edwards the Good tonight."

Go go
Go Johnny go
Go go go Johnny go
Go go go Johnny go
Go go go Johnny go
Go
Johnny Edwards the Good
