FWIW - Edwards Fatigue
Does anyone else have Edwards fatigue? Sometimes I feel lonely on this board on this subject. He's been running for president for almost 6 years. I recognize he has a group of passionate supporters who care about the right things -- but I just dont see any meat on the bone in his resume of real policy achievement. His success has largely been political/campaigning IMHO.

I realize that this post will probably get me flamed beyond belief. No JE supporters will believe this (I dont blame them), but I dont have a candidate in the race -- spent too much energy in 2004, 2005 (Cory Booker's mayoral) and 2006 to get excited about 1 person again yet.

just to repeat - I am not asking if anyone disagrees with me (i know that to be true here - I think JRE is the most popular candidate here on DU) But does anyone agree?

12. I do
It bothers me that his words do not match his record. There are many people who really were activists and really did spend a lifetime working to make the country better. Edwards speaks of fighting corrupt money in politics, but he has none of the credentials on this that someone like Senator Kerry, who wrote the Clean Elections/Clean Money act, has. Obama, not Edwards passed ethic reform, in Illinois as well as the US Senate. He speaks of being an advocate for the poor and middle class, but voted for the bankruptcy bill.

The Edwards in the Senate was not the Edwards of 2004 who is not the Edwards of 2008. The question is who is he?

2. I didn't know that was physiologically possible, due to the dearth of actual
coverage of the fact that he's running.

Of course, everyone's set point is different. You fatigue more quickly than most, it seems.

No flames, you should get some rest though. :-) MKJ

8. I think John Edwards has a decent message and I don't think he is off base re: corp's BUT
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 10:07 PM by MichiganVote
the audience for John's message is not the same broad based audience that other candidates court, i.e. evangelicals (a huge block), african americans (another large block), latinos (an even bigger block), women (JE is way behind on this segment)

The message is good, it is right....the problem is that he has not brought it home to every large voting group so that they could make it their own.

He is a smart man, an advocate through and through. And I agree with his assessment about corporations but he has missed making it a personal message with each and every one of these groups.

9. 6 years huh...sounds like a fighter to me!

6 years and still hasn't sold out. Most politicians start out fighting for the little man and over time bend over and take a few before they start selling out and just become another Washington inider. John keeps standing up taller and taller for the little guy.
