Poll question: Hey Obama supporters, how old are you?
I'm getting a bit peeved at the insinuations that the only people supporting Obama are stupid kids too young to know any better.

So which age bracket do y'all fit in?

4. Oh yeah, it's totally ageist
And I get the feeling that a lot of these folks making ageist remarks would have been OUTRAGED to have been dismissed on account of youth 40 years ago, ya know?

And in the interests of full disclosure, I'm 30, this is my fourth presidential election, and it looks like I'm on the thinner end of the curve. ;)

11. The Obama supporters....
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 11:07 AM by TwoSparkles
...in my Iowa precinct were mainly middle-aged people. I'd say more than 70 percent.

I live in a Des Moines suburb (population 40,000), that is mainly populated by two-income
families with younger children.

Obama won every precinct in my suburb.

It's wonderful that Obama is attracting younger voters. It's inspiring to see this demographic,
that has been uninspired and inactive for so long---excited about a candidate. However, these
people are only one slice of the Obama base.

I think the media is perpetuating the notion that Obama mainly attracts young voters, because
they are doing so many stories on the young people who support Obama. It's an interesting hook
in Obama's story---but it's not the entire picture.

41. I have no chip on my shoulder...
I'm pissed off though, that Mr. Obama, doesn't think MY age group, the baby boomers, of which he is one, was worthy of his time at the AARP debate, then went on to say that 'us 78 million baby boomers' are a real problem.

So, I guess Mr. Obama, doesn't see the old timers as having built this FUCKING country, that he is about to exploit, as important anymore. But then I guess we should all expect that, since he leaves his grandmother living in an African hut.

Who really doesn't have a "clue" what's good for her or her family, and is only buying into the Hype (and has been for the past 14 months).

Obviously there is someone out there running who is much "better" for me - but i'm just to young & naive to figure it out. Don't worry.. i'll learn all about my "mistake" after: A) Obama loses the election in the General, where obvious "X" candidate would have won or B) Obama wins the General Election but is a total trainwreck because he does or does not do "X".

63. I think this is the point many in this thread are missing
I am thrilled that younger people are getting involved in the politics that run our country.

Campaigning for George McGovern was my 1st entry into national politics, thirty five years ago. It was the era of, Don't trust anyone over thirty. (Which made my thirtieth b'day really suck.)

It is time that our younger voters voice's are heard. I :applause: them!
