Kerry/Edwards DNV on Gun Manf. Bill... NO filibuster possible...
They represented 2 of 3 senators not voting... cloture has been invoked...

I would guess they didnt want to go on record? Or maybe they were to busy?.. not sure..seems like a pretty important piece of legislation...

Only other one not voting was Zell Miller.....

1. Yup
It's a ploy. Most of the NRA usually votes Democratic. Neither one of them can afford to lose those +3 million votes.

2. People here need to learn how Congress works.

Kerry and Edwards would have made no difference. It only takes 60 votes, and the cloture motion had 75 supporters.

3. To be fair
That 75 includes members of both parties plus Sen. Jeffords.

6. I'm not sure this is such a bad bill.
Unless you are one of those who wants to ban guns completely, I don't see how this is a bad bill.

9. It's the implication: 'they should have been there' that makes no sense
I make no editorial comment on the nature of the bill.

4. If you don't go on the record how can we believe what they
say.

5. I'd rather have a Dem not vote on this bill and get elected in Nov
and make real changes, than have them vote and waive a red flag in front of the NRA.

We're 10 months away from real change.

10. Or...
They could vote for this bill AND get re-elected in Nov.
