Hillary Clinton's Endorsements. Surprising and impressive.
I had no idea of the heavyweights in so many areas:

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/endorsements/

i.e. Joseph Wilson, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., General Wesley Clark, El Mundo, Senator Maria Cantwell, Walter Mondale, Civil Rights Leaders John Lewis and Raul Yzaguirre, Former Defense Secretary William Perry, and tons more.

I was really impressed. I look at endorsements carefully.. I like her broad range of endorsees, from military to environmental. For me RFK, Jr. is BIG, as is Wesley Clark.

9. Hadn't Thought of That
He's the only one on the list who impresses me. Wes Clark was initially bankrolled by the Clintons in 2003, I'm not sure why they wanted to inject a candidate in the middle of the race, but he had the backing of their staff, as well.

4. Impressive, yes. Surprising, no.
Look, she's paid her dues, she's smart, she's tough, and she's calling in 16 years of markers.

I think I'm changing my sig to "I don't hate Hilary"

12. I'm supporter and I was surprised because it hasn't been publicized.
That's what I meant. I had no idea of the breadth of support she has. I think the "I don't hate Hillary" thing is a good idea!

I don't understand why his endorsement of and statements about Clinton get such play.

11. Oh, I see. Everything Hillary Clinton does or gets is Bad.
I forgot. I thought DU had a few reasonably intelligent, non-cynical, people left. Apparently there is only two or three of us left.

Yeah.. RFK, Jr., one of the most principaled people out there would endorse someone in the primary to get her seat. Disgusting. And the comment on her "sugar daddy". I had no idea how many chauvanists still existed, thought evolution took care of that.

13. I respect Wes Clark immensely.......
as I do RFK jr., but I march to my own drum.

I don't have a problem with Hillary, but sometimes I do wonder if Bill would have kept his zipper up, might that have helped get Gore into the White House instead of 8 years of Bush? The amount of time that this deed of his distracted this nation is hard for me to forget as it allowed the GOP to frame the "Bring respect back to the White House" campaign against Gore, and really did make Gore have to choose whether he would hold Bill Clinton up next to him as his mentor, or go it alone. The final result, if some will recall, has been 8 years of George Bush. I'm not blaming the Glenis....but to some large extent I am holding him to some accountability. I remember it all very well, as I was raising two young daughters at the time. I had to "explain" to them.

15. By the time Gore decided to run,
Clinton had regained most of his popularity, and I think Gore lost precisely because he bet against Clinton and went the way of the moral Mr. Lieberman.

17. Clinton never lost his popularity, and that wasn't as much the point
as the fact that a lot of time to get things done was wasted, and Gore was forced to make a decision. We will never know if Gore's decision was wrong....but we know that he was forced to make it because of Bill's behavior. We also know that Bill's indiscretion allowed the GOP to frame a message that didn't have to be. That cannot be denied.

18. Well, I guess we're going to have to disagree
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 03:13 PM by seasonedblue
not that the GOP used it against the Democrats, they use everything and anything to smear the Democrats, but it's also clear that Bill paid a much bigger price for his infidelity than was warranted, and Gore could have highlighted that instead of running away from the issue. There were a lot of options, but Gore bears the responsibility for the way he played it.

19. impressive?
More impressive is who hasn't endorsed her.

Kennedy for example. Now that personal friend Dodd is not in why hasn't he endorsed her.

Gore part of the Clinton administration for 8 years. Worked closely with her for 8 years. Nothing

Clark has been shilling on faux for 8 years and is now hoping for a spot on his adminstration (having now dispatched his son to appear on faux news only yesterday.

You forgot to mention that she also receive money from Rupert Murdoch
