The new liberated Hillary
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/01/07/new_hampshire_dems/

Maybe it was the nothing-left-to-lose liberation that comes with daunting poll numbers. Two New Hampshire surveys released Sunday (CNN/WMUR and USA Today/Gallup) both showed Obama with a double-digit lead over Clinton in Tuesday's primary. But Clinton seemed more relaxed and playful during the press conference than at almost any other time in the campaign. When a reporter asked obtusely whether there was any religious significance to a cross on her bracelet, she cracked, "Talk about the secular press." Then Chris Matthews, the host of MSNBC's "Hardball," posed a question on Iraq, which morphed into a plea for her to come on his show. Clinton's laughing response: "I never know what to do with men who are obsessed with me."

1. I laugh when I'm nervous as well
also....can we ditch this "men are obsessed with me" bullshit.
Its ok for her to use her sex as a weapon but dont you dare call her "shrill" or "catty".
Not even her own husband is obsessed with her.
Hill...get over it.

11. Nope. Tweety lives to pay back the Clintons - it's what made him a TV man
The Clintons are obsessed with other things than TV time - Hillary will never go on Tweety's show, he'll have to seethe at her vis surrogates. So, no, I don't see the connection. her answer was excellent.

5. Tweety IS obsessed with her.
He hates her, but it's the kind of hate a guy develops for the popular girl who wouldn't give him the time of day. He would do a turn around and fawn all over her if she did agree to show up on his crummy show.

6. It seemed to start during the debate
She's acting like a little girl flirting with the boys.

Is this her brand of "feminism"? :puke:

7. The press doesn't like Hillary
period. She entered the press bus and got a very chilly reception. She's getting the same hostility from the press that Gore did. One minute she needs to soften her image. The next she acting too girlishly and not feminist enough. She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. Much of the anger against her, from my perspective, is bipartisan. Add the press to the mix and I'd say if she does make it to the GE she's in for a rough time. I listened to someone (sorry the name escapes me) on Air America the other day and they said something very interesting. They did a study and found the most Americans vote on their feelings and not the issues. From what I've seen of politics, and I've been around awhile, that's true.

8. That is true. Most tend to be guided by "gut feeling" or emotional response rather than cold logic.
It's why people voted for GWB instead of Gore because Gore came across as distant and wooden.

13. Yeah I don't think the press is even trying to hide their dislike
for Hillary or maybe they are not aware of it.

I think gender plays a role in the coverage.

I don't think it is popular to say it.

I respect Hillary

14. It's been obvious for ages....
.. that Americans don't vote on the issues.

I think the reason for that is that few politicians follow through on their promises anyway, so voting based on a platform is bound to dissappoint.

I think Americans vote for the person they like most and trust most.

HRC is not going to do well on either of those, regardless of any objective analysis of her positions or her record.

16. Why don't Americans vote on the issues?
Why do they go with their gut? Why do they wait until the toxic sludge is in their own back yard or spewing from their kitchen faucet before they get up off their lazy asses and do something about it? Our whole nation has a dry cleaner mentality - if it can't be fixed, completed, or dealt with lickety-split, then it just doesn't happen. To add to the crap, its the people who care & take the time to make a difference who feel the repercussions the most. To be honest, I think part of it is simply not wanting to face up to the fact that things are really as bad as they are 'cause if you look it in the eye, you might have to acknowledge it, and acknowledging it can be pretty scary for most people.

9. I just don't think Hillary gets it...
Hillary saying "I never know what to do with men who obsessed with me" is equivalent to Obama doing something that might be considered stereotypical for african americans. like rapping one of his speeches.

She needs to stop playing up the sex when no one else is.
