GRR!!! Chambliss henchman after Russ Feingold
This is just sick and unbelievable. Don't let Russ get smeared and kicked out of town by these asshats.

http://www.wispolitics.com/index.iml?Article=10988 also an article in today's print version of Roll Call.

PUBLIC OPINION STRATEGIES JOINS WELCH TEAM -- Premier national polling firm’s past WI wins include Green and Walker

U.S. Senate candidate Bob Welch announced today that national polling and survey research company Public Opinion Strategies has joined his campaign.

“I am pleased to announce that Public Opinion Strategies has joined our campaign to unseat Russ Feingold this fall,” Welch said. “Public Opinion Strategies has a proven track record of providing in-depth survey research to candidates in Wisconsin and across the nation. Their input on this race will be extremely helpful to our campaign for the U.S. Senate.”

Public Opinion Strategies has provided political survey research services to candidates throughout the United States, including the Wisconsin Republican Assembly, Congressman Mark Green and Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker. Since its founding in 1991, Public Opinion Strategies has completed more than 5,500 research projects and interviewed more than 2.4 million Americans across the United States. Public Opinion Strategies has roots in political campaign management, and their research is focused on producing information that compels decisions.

Gene Ulm will be the pollster for Bob Welch’s U.S. Senate campaign. Mr.Ulm has extensive experience polling on behalf of successful U.S. Senate, gubernatorial, congressional, and state legislative campaigns. Notably, Ulm was the pollster for Saxby Chambliss’ underdog defeat of Max Cleland in Georgia’s 2002 U.S. Senate race.

“Public Opinion Strategies is excited about joining Team Welch because we believe he has the experience, message, and momentum to be Wisconsin’s next U.S. Senator,” Ulm said.

This is unFUCKing believable. If they go after Russ for the Patriot Act vote, they will bury him. He has fought to help first responders in rural areas, fought to protect our civil rights from John Ashcroft... etc

I ask you all who were upset about the loss of Max Cleland from the Senate, send a few dollars to Wellstonian Democrat, Russ Feingold, to fight against his multi-millionaire competitors with their SCUM advisors.

1. Fear not, Bob Welch is an unusually bad candidate. We won't win if Jesus
himself helped and I say that as a Christian. Those smear tactics don't work so well in Wisconsin and Russ's standing with the public has never been higher.

3. You're absolutely right.
I'm not at all worried about Russ getting beat. I take that part back. However, I don't even want to see the kind of shit these people are going to bring up, brought up. It's a losing and insulting fight they will want to wage.

8. Russ's seat is safe. Those running against him are lightweights.
Even so, I will fight like a dog for Russ. I will go to Milwaukee, and Madison, and Waukesha, and LaCrosse, and Eau Claire, and Manitowac, and Brookfield, and Green Bay, and then I'm going to vote for Russ for another term in the Senate! YEARGH!

5. I like Bob Welch
He was a great pitcher for the A's. A Cy Young award winner. We couldn't have won the World Series without him.

Seriously, don't worry. Finegold will make lunch meat of him.

7. Welch won't win the repub primary
and doesn't have a chance against Russ even if he does.

Feingold is a master of shedding negative advertising and making his opponents look foolish.

He was outspent something like 4-1 in 1998 and still won easily.

10. He only won by a couple of points in '98.
That was an abortion election and Wisconsin is deeply divided on abortion. This election will be about other issues where Russ is much stronger.

13. I stand corrected

Looking back, it was much closer than I thought. 2.6% difference between him and Neumann.

I just don't remember biting my nails as much during that election.

He has some pretty rich foes this time around, and that worries me. We got Michels, who is a Bushite who likes to spend time with Ken Lay, and Russ Darrow, who has a used car empire and is so rich he donated $1,000 to Feingold's 2004 campaign for some reason.

20. Thank goodness Neumann lost
I would worry about Darrow if he wins the primary. But if Darrow donated to Feingold then he would need to explain why he would run against him.

9. Feingold barely won re-election 6 years ago
Feingold barely won re-election 6 years ago. He refused to take pac money and was outspent in the media. We should all contribute to his re-election.

15. the repugs have huge
shitloads of money to spend on their campaigns.

And the main issue they'll be driving at is jobs. Wisconsin has lost jobs since Russ was elected. Well, of course, since Bush got in, the whole country has lost millions of jobs, but I would guess you won't hear the repugs mentioning that pesky little detail. Also, Russ has voted against any bills that have led towards job loss, though that's another thing you won't hear in the endless ads.

I'm worried about this. We simply can't afford to lose him.

I will continue to remind people in every post I make about Russ Feingold, that
Russ Feingold was the ONLY U.S. Senator to vote AGAINST Patriot Act!!!

16. The money worries me
I'm not too worried about Welch. He showed his ability (actually lack thereof) the last time he ran. But money buys a lot of exposure. Russ will hold true to his no PAC money pledge and that's going to put him at a disadvantage but we're going to have to make it up in pure manpower.

btw: I had to pick up my wife's car a the local health plan yesterday and parked next to it was a car with Doyle and Feingold bumper stickers on it....imagine that, in the middle of conservative "pill hill".

22. It bothers me that these scum will go after someone like Feingold
He was the only Senator to vote against the Patriot Act. Watch for these douche-bags to air commericals of Feingold morphing into Bin Laden, just like they did with Max Cleland.
