MSNBC is so desperate for Obama to win that
they are holding up slanted Des Moines Register poll all morning even though most of the guests have dissed it. Right on Timmy & Tweety.

1. There is NO WAY you can accurately poll for an event that attracts only 11% of the state pop. nt

2. More Like Five Or So Percent Of (Adults)
Adults in IA = 3,000,000

Expected Democratic caucus participation - 125,000 to 150,000...

16. Jesus, why bother? It's pathetic.
I'm guessing if it weren't for the LOOT that this stupid exercise brings in, even the Iowans wouldn't bother.

Welcome to the Opposite of Democracy!

3. I try to avoid "blaming" the media for things... but...
I've noticed this as well. Another example was last week on Hardball during the time there were two polls out on Iowa - one showed Obama - Edwards - Hillary and the other (Bloomberg, I believe) showed Hillary - Edwards - Obama. The poll Tweety chose to trumpet was the one with Obama in the lead EVEN THOUGH he also trumpeted the GOP numbers from the Bloomberg poll (but didn't mention the Dem numbers.)

The more Tweety and his guest (a guy who works for NPR and advertising) discussed the various campaign commercials, the more I expected Matthew's table to rise from the force of the boners the two were obviously getting.

he just ticks me off no end.

5. And the DMR poll shows that Obama's opponents are so desperate for him not to beat
their candidate of choice that they are praying for low turnout and for new Democratic voters to stay out of the process.

12. They are going to be disappointed. It will be the youth, and those that
pollsters typically ignore that will change everything

They will vote for hope instead of the same old games that have been hurting this country for the last 16 plus years

Reminds me when I was a kid praying for Nixon to be impeached and for Carter to beat Ford. I wasn't casual about politics back then and neither are they.

8. AND IF Hillary or Obama or Edwards
does win, what does it mean. Obama won't take the nation. We all know that. His supporters are dreaming. They know there is no way in the world that he would carry enough states to win the nomination. But if they want to root for him that's their right. And the republican ass kissers on MSNBC are dying to see him win because they know that's the only way it would ensure a republican win.

10. What do you me "we all know that Obama won't take the nation"? Why is that?
In fact I think just the opposite, yet I have no special insight then anyone else, and neither did most of the early polls which indicated that Hillary had everything wrapped up

In fact I will argue the case the MSM and most of the news media in this country have been WRONG about everything they have said, and had to eat their words later

Things that the media have been wrong about, and where they will eat their words:

1. The economy is fine, there will be no recession
2. Iraq has weapons of mass destruction
3. Iraq was linked to AQ
4. Iraq was involved with 9/11
5. The Democrats will not take back Congress in 2006
6. There is no inflation

An African American CAN WIN in the U.S., and the reason is because what all the wonderful polls do not take into consideration is the young people, and that people in this country want NEW IDEAS over experience

Experience has got us to where we are today

15. So, if someone suggests that Obama cannot win --they are labeled racist?
what a load of crap. He is inexperienced. He has insuffient knowledge of foreign affairs, he says one thing, and does another.

There are plenty of reasons not to support him that have nothing to do with his skin color.

19. Excuse me, the person who indicated that Obama cannot win did NOT give a reason
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 09:56 AM by still_one
I was trying to understand what it was

There is NO PLACE WHERE I IMPLIED THAT THE POSTER who said Obama can't win was a racist. I was asking for his reason, which I haven't heard yet. I heard YOUR reason.

I was throwing out what I have heard people say through the MSM. They have also commented incorrectly that he is a Muslim, including representatives from certain campaigns

As for YOUR answer that he is inexperienced, I would like to point out to you that people seem to be more interested in NEW IDEAS, and less in experience, as those experienced views got us into Iraq through the IWR and patriot act.

What we have in Obama is a Constitutional EXPERT, something that we are lacking in those who voted for the IWR

This country is still horribly racist and to deny that is naive. Will he take NY or CA - no doubt but he'll need more and wont get it.

17. You are right it is a big conspiracy against Hillary...
Don't they know that she WILL be president. Why oh why would they hold up the Des Moines Register poll that shows Obama ahead. When Hillary is ahead in all of the other polls like....zogb....uh.....strategic vis....uh....well Hillary is up on the RCP average...what you mean she is in second...ohh crap...Well she is supposed to be ahead....it is a big conspiracy against her....Obama and Bush paid of the polling firms to put Obama ahead. Yeah that's it.

20. How can anyone sit there and say Obama is unelectable if he beats out an impressive field of dems...
If Clinton can't beat Obama in the primaries, what makes you think she would win in the GE? It just defies logic.

I've also had enough of this rising conspiracy theory that the fix is in for Obama...oh please...the media likes him because he is optimistic and he is a good story. Hillary has every right to claim a similar mantle of being historic, but she has not because she is not as effective a candidate as Obama is. Obama may lose the nomination, but he was never supposed to win it...he is getting where he is getting because he is a good politician running a good campaign.

24. I just don't think Hillary is a very good candidate, I will vote for her in the GE...
...but I watched her speak at a rally on CNN yesterday and it was like a wake. When you see these clips, focus on the audience. I think she is very capable, but not a good candidate...like many before her (Dole? Kerry?), and they often get trumped by a natural politician (Reagan, Clinton).
