Tid-Bits from the new NBC/WSJ Poll
Democratic voter enthusiasm for the top tier candidates
If (___) were selected as the Democratic nominee, would you vote for this person with enthusiasm, with some reservations, only based on who the opponent was, or not vote for that person?

Vote With Enthusiasm//Vote With Some Reservations//Vote Only Based On Opponent//Not Vote For That Person//Not Sure
Hillary Clinton.................................... 50 28 12 9 1
Barack Obama................................... 44 29 10 13 4
John Edwards ....................................36 33 14 12 5
The Public has lost almost any confidence in US intelligence
As you may know, United States intelligence agencies recently announced that Iran stopped its nuclear weapons program in 2003. How much confidence do you have in the intelligence agencies regarding this report--a great deal of confidence, quite a bit, just some, or very little confidence?

A great deal of confidence.................. 6
Quite a bit of confidence................... 11
Just some confidence........................ 33
Very little confidence...................... 46
Past Cocaine use. Viewed as much worse than marijuana, but much better than problems with the IRS. Tolerance of past cocaine use has flipped since 1992, when 51% considered it disqualifying.
Let me mention several things you might learn about a candidate running for president. For each one, please tell me whether this should or should not disqualify someone from becoming president of the United States.

Has used cocaine in the past:
Should Disqualify....................36
Should Not Disqualify..............51
Depends/Not Sure..................13%

1. ha ha ha ha ha
This shows just how out of the mainstream DU is. More democrats WOULD NOT vote for Edwards (12%) or Obama (13%) vs. Hillary (9%) if they got the nomination. And only 1% were "unsure" what they would do with Hillary. It's 4% and 5% for Obama and Edwards.

2. Yeah, that struck me too. Between DU and cable news one would think she is pelted with rotten fruit
every time she appears before a group of Democrats. But a lot of Democrats love her, and almost all of the rest trust her to at least do a decent job, even if they're not warm to her.

3. most americans are too busy with their lives to be political junkies
They don't watch chris matthews blovate every day. They are working long hours, worrying about paying the bills, spending time with their family and friends. Hillary knows who the real "base" of the democratic party is. And it aint the Hillary haters at DU.

5. Exactly
DU'ers are probably much more informed and know more of the specifics of each candidate. The same thing is happening in Iowa and New Hampshire, and that is why Clinton's numbers are slipping in both places.

If more Democrats knew about the specifics of Clinton's record her numbers would be pretty bad.

6. While I agree with most all of your post ....
And while I will vote for Hillary in the GE, your desire or need to pillory DU is directly parallel to your constant 'bloviating' on her behalf .....

Honestly: You have become a walking and talking Hillary advertisement: that is who you are around here, and there appears to be no other aspect of your own personality which is expressed, other than 'Hillary Hack' .....

So yeah ... There are Hillary Haters in DU, and DU doesn't proportionately reflect the community at large, but YOU draw the attention of the 'haters' through your own, over-the-top campaign cheerleading that seems to be your only purpose here ....

I have no favorite Democratic candidate, and will vote for whomever is nominated in the GE, but I tire equally from supporters in DU as I do detractors .....

Expecting some sort of creedal purity in a forum like DU is unrealistic. DU is NOT a moderate 'base', and shouldnt be expected to be so .....

One might guess that the real purpose of your constant drumming for Hillary in DU, knowing DU is a 'fringe' forum, is to be surrounded by those 'haters' ... It is as if you are striving to attain that kind of conflict as personal fulfillment .....

Thank God.

8. I wouldn't mind so much if DU represented the USA
Edited on Sat Dec-22-07 04:25 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
The problem would be if DU represented the Democratic party.

If DU was representative of both Democrats and Republicans we would have clear sailing.
