Romney finds Putin's "Man of the Year" honor "disgusting," pissed that it wasn't Petraeus
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Count Republican Mitt Romney among those who aren't happy with Time Magazine's choice of Russian President Vladimir Putin for Person of the Year.

In an interview with CNN's Glen Beck, the presidential candidate called the choice "disgusting."

"You know, he imprisoned his political opponents. There have been a number of highly suspicious murders," Romney said on Beck's radio show. "He has squelched public dissent and free press. And to suggest that someone like that is the Man of the Year is really disgusting. I'm just appalled."

"Clearly General Petraeus is the person, or one of a few people, who would certainly merit that designation," the former Massachusetts governor added.

1. It's not an honor, so get over it, Mittens
I'm pretty sure political spokespeople don't get the award either.

8. Romney can pander with the best of panderers. And I'm sorry, but that jacket
looks like total crap. Can't these people afford better clothes? It looks bad on him to begin with, but throw in the dotted blue tie and you've got a fashion crisis.

TIME isn't my favorite magazine, but according to their reasonable criteria, Putin is a reasonable choice, no matter how dumbed-down Romney's audiences are. Putin, IMO, should not be praised for "stabilizing Russia" so much as written about and investigated for being such a power-mad control-freak toxic eel. But as it happens, the magazine's editors didn't reach me in time for my input on the slant.

All the same, it's their show and their call. Romney's slide in the polls lately aren't owed to his being a Mormon. I think it's more that he's like a wind-up doll when he stands up in front of people and panders to their lowest instincts. Though in a year of pathetic competition, Romne's still in the hunt.

The glorification of all things military. Well, if we were ever guessing about Romney's proclivites, we know now, don't we? Fascist pig.

15. I agree that Putin is disgusting...
but since Time has given it to Hitler, Stalin (twice), the Ayatollah Khomeini, and in its early days Pierre Laval, I would hardly call the award a badge of honour necessarily.

And seriously *why Petraeus*???

Incidentally, isn't it a bit sexist to still have a *Man* of the Year in 2007 - they should award it to a woman one of these days!

16. Yes, he could have joined the ranks of Mrs. Simpson, Gen. Westmoreland, and Stalin X2.
Surely Willard knows that this "distinction" is based on effect and nothing more.

Now what was it that Gen. Clark said about Rock me Dave Petraeus? Oh, yes, "a third string quarterback who entered the game too late."
